Forbidden Comfort

Forbidden Comfort

Episode 0 - Prologue

Elena Hart had always imagined pregnancy would be the most beautiful chapter of her life. She pictured quiet mornings with Adrian, his hands resting on her growing belly, his voice whispering promises to the little life inside her. For years, she believed he was the man she would grow old with—the man she could trust with her whole world.

But trust has a way of breaking quietly, like glass beneath a soft step.

At six months pregnant, Elena moved slower, breathed heavier, felt everything more deeply. That afternoon, she came home early with the ultrasound photos still tucked in her bag, excited to show Adrian their baby’s first clear smile. He had missed the appointment, claiming he was “too swamped” at work. She didn’t blame him—she never did.

The house was unusually silent. No TV, no footsteps, no signs of work stress. Just the faint thump of music drifting from upstairs—soft, rhythmic, and wrong.

She paused at the bottom of the staircase, one hand instinctively resting on her belly. Her heart thudded hard, almost painfully. Pregnancy had made her sensitive, emotional—but this wasn’t hormones. This was dread.

She climbed the stairs slowly, each step heavier than the last. Then she heard it.

A woman’s laugh. Breathless. Familiar.

Followed by Adrian’s voice, low and hungry in a way he hadn’t spoken to her in months.

Her chest tightened. She took another step, and the sounds became clearer—moans intertwined, bodies moving, whispers she wasn’t supposed to hear.

She reached the bedroom door—the one she and Adrian once decorated together, the one where she imagined rocking their baby to sleep.

The door was slightly open.

Just enough for everything to shatter.

There, on the bed she had shared with her husband, was Brianna. Her best friend. The aunt-to-be who bought baby clothes with her and touched her stomach every chance she got. And Adrian was with her, holding her, touching her, kissing her in ways he never touched Elena anymore.

Elena didn’t gasp. She didn’t scream. She didn’t make a sound.

Her world just… stopped.

Her trembling hand covered her mouth as tears blurred her vision. Her baby kicked against her ribs, as if sensing the storm inside her. Carefully—almost too calmly—she backed away from the door. She walked down the stairs in silence, holding her belly as if protecting her child from the truth.

She took off her wedding ring and placed it on the kitchen table next to the ultrasound picture she had planned to show him.

Two symbols of a life she no longer had.

Then she left.

She didn’t know where to go. Her body was exhausted, her heart hollow. Adrian kept calling. Brianna texted lies. People whispered.

Only one person showed up.

Julian Cole.

Adrian’s younger brother. Quiet, steady, the one man who looked at Elena like she mattered—even before she knew she didn’t matter to her husband.

He didn’t ask what happened. He simply knelt before her, gentle hands steadying her trembling ones, and whispered:

“You’re not alone. Not anymore.”

She didn’t know then that losing Adrian would tie her fate to Julian in ways that would change everything.

For her.

For her baby.

And for the brothers caught between love and betrayal.
