Episode 3 – The Unexpected Visitor

The courtyard was quiet, but the silence felt heavy—thick with tension. Elina’s heart raced as she stared at the figure emerging from the shadows.

“Who… who are you?” she whispered, fear threading through her voice.

The man’s eyes glinted in the dim light, a chilling smile on his lips. “Let’s just say I’ve been… watching,” he said, his tone smooth, dangerous. “And now, I finally get to meet you in person.”

Adrian stepped in front of her instantly, his hand firm on her shoulder. “Stay behind me,” he ordered, the calm edge in his voice replaced by steel.

The stranger tilted his head, studying Adrian like a predator sizing up its prey. “Cole,” he said, almost casually. “I’ve been hoping to see you again. And it seems you’ve brought a friend.” His gaze fell on Elina, and a shiver ran through her.

“I… I don’t understand,” she stammered, gripping Adrian’s arm.

The stranger’s smile widened. “Oh, but you will. Everything she touches becomes… interesting,” he said, and then, without warning, lunged forward.

Adrian reacted instantly, shielding her and drawing a concealed weapon. “Run!” he shouted.

Elina froze for a moment, adrenaline and fear battling inside her. But then instinct took over, and she followed him as they darted through narrow alleys, heart pounding, breath ragged.

Finally, the stranger disappeared into the night as suddenly as he had appeared, leaving only a lingering sense of dread.

Adrian turned to her, voice low, dark, and protective. “This isn’t over. They’ll be back. And next time… it might not just be me keeping you safe.”

Elina swallowed hard, a mix of fear and something else she couldn’t name—something that drew her to him, even in the face of danger.

He glanced at her, his dark eyes unreadable. “You need to understand, Elina. This isn’t just about me. Now, it’s about you too.”

Her stomach twisted. “Me? Why me?”

“Because you’re part of my life now,” he said simply. “And I don’t let anyone hurt what’s mine.” His hand brushed hers in the dim light, a fleeting touch that made her heart lurch.

Suddenly, a shadow detached itself from the alley—a figure taller, faster, moving with intent. Before Elina could react, a cold hand brushed her shoulder. She spun, but the alley was empty.

Adrian’s eyes darted around, sharp and tense. “They’re not done,” he said, his voice low, warning, and full of danger. “And next time… they won’t be alone.”

Her chest tightened. The whispers she had tried to ignore suddenly grew louder, echoing in her mind. Every instinct screamed at her to run, to hide… but she stayed, drawn to Adrian, to the protection he offered, and the storm she couldn’t resist.

Elina nodded, heart pounding. She didn’t fully understand the danger she was in—but she trusted him. Somehow, that trust made the darkness feel… a little less suffocating.

The stranger’s laughter echoed faintly from the distance, sending a shiver down her spine. The night was far from over, and the shadows were just beginning to whisper their secrets.
