FATED LOVE 3

(•) 5 YEARS LATER (•_•)

Five years had passed since Taehyung had left behind the ruins of his old life. He had built a new one, far away from the pain, guilt, and memories that had once consumed him. The small coastal town he now called home was a peaceful place, quiet and untouched by the chaos of the city.

It was where he had found solace, working as a baker in a cozy café tucked away near the beach. The café was his sanctuary, a place where he could breathe again, where he could live without the weight of his past haunting him at every turn.

And then there was Taeguk, his son, the little boy who had become the center of his world. Taeguk was five years old now, full of life and laughter, with bright eyes that reminded Taehyung every day why he had chosen to start over. He had adopted Taeguk a year after leaving, knowing that the only way he could truly heal was by giving his love to someone who needed it, someone who deserved it.

Life wasn't perfect, but it was enough. Taehyung had found peace in the simplicity of his new existence, and for the first time in years, he was content.

The smell of freshly baked bread and pastries filled the air as Taehyung placed a tray of croissants into the display case. The café was quiet this morning, with only a few regular customers sipping their coffee and enjoying their breakfast. The soft hum The smell of freshly baked bread and pastries filled the air as Taehyung placed a tray of croissants into the display case. The café was quiet this morning, with only a few regular customers sipping their coffee and enjoying their breakfast. The soft hum of conversation and the clinking of cups created a comforting rhythm that Taehyung had grown accustomed to.

Taeguk was sitting at a small table near the window, coloring in his favorite cartoon characters, occasionally glancing up to show his latest masterpiece to his father. Taehyung would smile, give a nod of approval, and go back to his work, all while keeping a close eye on his son.

It was a routine they had fallen into, one that made Taehyung feel like everything was as it should be.

But just as Taehyung was wiping down the counter, the small bell above the door chimed, signaling the arrival of a new customer. Without looking up, Taehyung called out a friendly, "Good morning, I'll be with you in just a second."

There was no response, only the soft sound of footsteps approaching the counter.

When Taehyung finally looked up, the world around him seemed to freeze.

Standing before him, as if pulled from the shadows of his past, was Jungkook.

For a moment, Taehyung couldn't breathe. His heart slammed against his chest as his mind raced to catch up with the sight in front of him.

Jungkook looked almost the same as he did five years ago, though there were subtle changes. His hair was slightly longer, and there was a maturity in his features that hadn't been there before. But his eyes-those same dark, intense eyes that had once made Taehyung feel so alive-were fixed on him with a gaze that seemed to pierce right through him.

"Taehyung..." Jungkook's voice was low, almost a whisper, as if he could hardly believe what he was seeing.

Taehyung swallowed hard, his hands gripping the edge of the counter as if it were the only thing keeping him grounded. He hadn't prepared for this. He hadn't imagined seeing Jungkook again, not after all these years, not after everything that had happened.

"Jungkook..." Taehyung finally managed to say, his voice shaky.

Jungkook's eyes scanned Taehyung's face, taking in every detail, as if trying to reconcile the man in front of him with the memory he had held onto for so long. "I didn't think I'd ever find you," Jungkook said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Taehyung's heart hammered in his chest. "What... what are you doing here?" His voice cracked, unable to mask the shock and fear swirling within him.

Jungkook hesitated for a moment before responding. "I've been looking for you, Tae. For years. I needed to see you."

Taehyung's chest tightened. He hadn't prepared for this. He had worked so hard to forget, to bury the past, to live a life where neither Jungkook nor Eunwoo existed. And now, in the blink of an eye, the walls he had carefully built came crashing down.

Before Taehyung could respond, a small voice cut through the tension.

"Appa?"

Both men turned to see Taeguk standing near the counter, clutching his coloring book to his chest, his eyes wide as he looked up at the stranger. His small voice, filled with curiosity, broke through the tension that had settled between Taehyung and Jungkook.

Taehyung's breath hitched as he glanced at his son, his heart aching at the sight of him so innocently caught in the middle of something he didn't understand.

Jungkook's eyes flickered to Taeguk, and for a moment, confusion clouded his expression. "Appa?" he repeated, his gaze shifting back to Taehyung, as if waiting for an explanation.

Taehyung's throat felt tight, and he struggled to find his voice. "This is Taeguk," he said softly, his voice trembling. "He's... my son."

Jungkook's eyes widened slightly, and for a moment, he seemed at a loss for words. He stared at the little boy, the weight of Taehyung's words sinking in. "Your son..." he whispered, his voice filled with disbelief. His gaze flickered between Taehyung and Taeguk, trying to piece together the life that Taehyung had built without him.

Taehyung nodded, his hands shaking as he reached out to pull Taeguk closer, his fingers brushing through the boy's hair. "Yes, he's mine. I adopted him a few years ago."

Jungkook's jaw clenched, his expression unreadable as he stared at Taeguk. For a moment, neither of them spoke. The silence stretched, thick with unspoken words and emotions neither of them were ready to confront.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Jungkook finally asked, his voice hoarse, broken.

Taehyung shook his head, unable to meet Jungkook's eyes. "Because I had to leave that part of my life behind," he whispered. "I couldn't stay... I couldn't go back."

Jungkook took a step closer, his eyes searching Taehyung's face. "And me? You left me behind too."

Taehyung's heart ached at the raw emotion in Jungkook's voice. He could see the pain, the betrayal, and the longing that still lingered in his gaze. But there was nothing he could say to make it right. Not after everything that had happened.

"I didn't have a choice," Taehyung said softly, his voice barely audible. "I couldn't keep living like that. I couldn't keep hurting people."

Jungkook stared at him, the weight of Taehyung's words sinking in. His eyes flickered down to Taeguk, then back to Taehyung. "So... what now?" he asked, his voice trembling. "Is this it? You just move on, and I'm supposed to pretend like you never existed?"

Taehyung's heart shattered at the pain in Jungkook's voice, but he couldn't go back. Not now. He had made his choices, and they had led him here, to a life far away from the chaos and destruction of his past.

"I'm sorry," Taehyung whispered, his voice breaking. "But this is my life now."

Jungkook's eyes filled with tears, his shoulders slumping in defeat. He had searched for Taehyung for years, only to find that the man he loved had moved on, had built a new life without him.

Without a word, Jungkook turned and walked away, the door closing behind him with a soft chime. And just like that, Taehyung's past was gone again, leaving him standing there, holding onto the only thing that mattered now-his son.

But as the tears spilled down Taehyung's cheeks, he knew deep down that the past was never truly gone. Seeing Jungkook again had opened old wounds that he thought had healed. The ache in his chest was a reminder of the life he had left behind, and no matter how much he tried to move on, the connection between him and Jungkook still lingered, raw and unresolved.

Taeguk tugged at his sleeve, his small voice filled with concern. "Appa, why are you sad?"

Taehyung quickly wiped his tears, forcing a smile for his son. "I'm okay, Taeguk-ah," he whispered, pulling the boy into his arms. "Appa's just a little tired."

But even as he held Taeguk close, Taehyung couldn't shake the feeling that the past wasn't done with him yet.

Taehyung had tried to push the encounter with Jungkook out of his mind, but it clung to him like a shadow. He spent the rest of the day in a daze, going through the motions of work but barely registering anything around him. His thoughts kept drifting back to Jungkook-his eyes, the pain in his voice, the way he had looked at Taeguk. It was all too much, and the past five years of carefully crafted peace felt as fragile as glass.

That night, after putting Taeguk to bed, Taehyung sat by the window, staring out at the moonlit ocean. The small apartment above the café had become his haven, a safe space where he could raise his son in peace. But tonight, it felt like the walls were closing in on him, like the life he had built was slipping through his fingers.

A soft knock at the door broke through his thoughts, and for a moment, Taehyung's heart stopped. He knew who it was before he even opened the door.

Jungkook stood in the dimly lit hallway, his face unreadable, but there was a determination in his eyes that made Taehyung's stomach churn. He had come back, and Taehyung had no idea what that meant.

"Jungkook... what are you doing here?" Taehyung whispered, his voice laced with fear and confusion.

Jungkook didn't answer right away. He stepped inside without asking, his gaze flicking around the small apartment before settling back on Taehyung. "I'm not leaving without you, Tae," he said quietly, but there was an intensity in his tone that made it clear this wasn't just a casual visit.

Taehyung took a step back, his heart racing. "You can't just show up like this. I have a life here, a son to take care of-"

"Taeguk is coming with us," Jungkook interrupted, his voice firm but not unkind. "He's your son, and I would never separate you from him. But I need you, Taehyung. I've needed you for years."
