Chapter 5 – Living With a Cold Mafia Boss

Wei Wuxian discovered a shocking truth after one week of marriage.

Lan Wangji was bad at normal life.

Very bad.

Every morning, Lan Wangji woke up at exactly six.

He trained.

He worked.

He ate in silence.

Wei Wuxian watched this routine while lying sideways on the bed.

“You know,” Wei Wuxian said lazily, “normal husbands at least pretend to enjoy mornings.”

Lan Wangji tied his tie perfectly. “Mornings are efficient.”

Wei Wuxian groaned. “You’re terrifying.”

Lan Wangji paused. “Do you want breakfast?”

Wei Wuxian blinked. “You’re cooking?”

“Yes.”

Ten minutes later, Wei Wuxian stared at the table.

Perfect eggs. Perfect toast. Perfect coffee.

“…You’re not human,” Wei Wuxian muttered.

Lan Wangji sat across from him. “Eat.”

Wei Wuxian smiled. “Yes, husband.”

Later that day, Wei Wuxian decided to test something.

He walked into Lan Wangji’s office without knocking and sat on his lap.

The guards outside almost passed out.

Lan Wangji froze.

Wei Wuxian tilted his head. “Relax. I’m allowed here, right?”

Lan Wangji slowly placed his hands on Wei Wuxian’s waist—not tight, just steady.

“Yes,” he said calmly. “You’re allowed.”

Wei Wuxian’s heart skipped.

He stood up quickly. “Okay! Experiment done.”

Lan Wangji watched him go, confused… and slightly amused.

That evening, Wei Wuxian overheard guards whispering.

“They say the boss smiles now.”

“Only when his husband is around.”

“It’s scary.”

Wei Wuxian laughed quietly.

“So I’m the real danger,” he said.

At night, Wei Wuxian sat beside Lan Wangji on the balcony.

City lights glowed below.

“Can I ask you something?” Wei Wuxian said.

“Yes,” Lan Wangji replied.

“Why me?” Wei Wuxian asked lightly. “You could’ve married anyone.”

Lan Wangji looked at him, eyes calm and honest.

“Because you’re alive,” he said.

“You’re not afraid of me.”

Wei Wuxian smiled softly. “Yeah. You’re kind of cute when you’re not threatening people.”

Lan Wangji didn’t deny it.

Suddenly, Lan Wangji’s phone rang.

His expression changed.

“There’s movement,” he said. “Someone inside the organization.”

Wei Wuxian leaned closer. “So the mystery begins.”

Lan Wangji nodded. “Stay close to me.”

Wei Wuxian grinned. “I already am.”

That's all
