Chapter 4: Lunch & Laughter

Rohan's eyes lit up as Aisha agreed. "Awesome! There's this amazing street food place nearby. You game?"

Aisha nodded, and they strolled out, dodging morning rush crowds. The street food joint was a colourful hole-in-the-wall, aromatic and buzzing. Rohan ordered samosas and dosas – Aisha's faves.

As they waited, Rohan leaned in, "So, what's the story behind your love for cherry blossoms?"

Aisha's smile grew. "My aunt took me to Kyoto for my 18th. First time out of India... it was magic."

The food arrived, and they dug in. Spicy goodness, laughter, and a stray samosa fell off Aisha's plate. Rohan laughed, and she joined in, feeling the day slip into something special...

Aisha's eyes sparkled as she popped the last bit of samosa into her mouth. "Hmm, so good!" she said, reaching for a napkin.

Rohan grinned, watching her. "Told you it's the best spot. Secret gem."

As they walked off the street food buzz, Aisha asked, "What's your go-to travel spot?"

Rohan's face lit up. "Hiking in the Himalayas. You?"

Aisha's eyes widened. "I'd love that! I've done a bit of trekking in the Western Ghats, but mountains are my happy place."

The banter flowed – they discovered a shared love for chai, old books, and random playlists. Rohan pulled out his phone, "Show me your fave playlist."

Aisha laughed, handing it over. "It's a mess, but..."

As Rohan scrolled, his smile grew. "Love this song!" he said, playing a track.

The afternoon sun dipped, casting a warm glow. Aisha felt... seen.

The song faded, and Rohan looked up, catching Aisha's gaze. "This playlist's awesome," he said, his voice a notch softer.

Aisha smiled, feeling a spark. "Glad you like it."

They strolled to a nearby park, sinking onto a bench. The evening air carried whispers of rain, and Rohan nudged closer. "You smell that? Monsoon vibes."

Aisha leaned in, laughing. "Love it."

Their shoulders touched. Aisha didn't pull away...

Aisha's hair brushed against Rohan's shoulder as she turned, her voice low. "Monsoons are my fave. The whole city is alive."

Rohan's eyes locked onto hers, a smile playing on his lips. "Mine too. Though I'd say it's the people that make it special."

The air pulsed with unspoken words. Aisha's phone buzzed – Neha checking in. She ignored it, her focus on Rohan.

He leaned in, voice dropping to a murmur. "Want to grab dinner with me? Properly, I mean."

Aisha's heart skipped. She whispered, "I'd love to."

Aisha's whisper hung in the air, and Rohan's smile widened, his eyes curling at the corners. "Tonight?" he asked, his breath ghosting her ear.

Aisha's pulse raced, but she played it cool. "How about 8?"

Rohan nodded, pulling out his phone. "I'll pick you up."

The phone buzzed again – Neha's call again. Aisha again silenced it, her focus on Rohan.

"Looking forward," he said, standing up, his hand brushing hers.

Aisha's skin tingled. "Me too."
