When Love Turns Dangerous – Chapter 4

Life didn’t stop after Ryan.

For Celine, it slowly began again.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. Her world no longer revolved around constant messages or emotional storms. Instead, it was filled with small victories—laughing freely, making decisions without fear, and rediscovering the confidence she once lost.

One evening, her college announced a cultural fest. Singing auditions.

Her heart skipped.

Once, singing was everything to her. But during her relationship with Ryan, she had stopped. He didn’t like her being on stage, didn’t like the attention she received. And without realizing it, she had given it up.

Now, standing in front of the audition room, her hands trembled.

“Celine, you’re overthinking again,” her friend teased. “Just go in!”

Celine took a deep breath.

This wasn’t about proving anything to anyone.

This was about her.

She stepped inside.

The moment she began to sing, something shifted. Her voice, once hesitant, grew stronger with every note. It wasn’t perfect—but it was real. It carried her pain, her healing, her journey.

And for the first time in a long while, she felt alive.

A few days later, the results were announced.

She got selected.

Excitement rushed through her, mixed with disbelief. She had done it—on her own.

That evening, as she sat alone practicing, someone approached from behind.

“That was beautiful.”

Celine turned, slightly startled.

It was Aarav.

He was known around campus for being calm, respectful, and talented in music too. They had seen each other before but never really talked.

“Thank you,” she said politely.

“I didn’t know you sing like that,” he added with a small smile.

“I guess… I’m rediscovering it myself,” Celine replied.

Aarav nodded, as if he understood more than she had said. “Sometimes we lose parts of ourselves… but it’s nice when we find them again.”

Celine looked at him, a little surprised by his words.

There was no pressure in his tone. No hidden expectation. Just simple understanding.

Over the next few days, they practiced together for the fest. Aarav never asked too many questions, never pushed her into conversations she wasn’t ready for. He respected her space, something she hadn’t realized she needed so much.

One day, while taking a break, Aarav said, “You seem different from others.”

Celine raised an eyebrow. “Different how?”

“Stronger,” he replied simply.

She let out a soft laugh. “I wasn’t always.”

“But you are now,” he said.

His words stayed with her.

That night, Celine thought about everything—her past with Ryan, the pain she had endured, and the strength she had gained. She realized something important.

Healing doesn’t mean forgetting the past.

It means growing beyond it.

As the fest approached, Celine stood backstage, her heart racing. But this time, it wasn’t fear. It was excitement.

When her name was called, she stepped onto the stage.

The lights shone brightly, the crowd watching in silence.

Celine closed her eyes for a second.

This moment was hers.

No control. No fear. No doubts holding her back.

Just her.

And as she began to sing, her voice carried not just music—but freedom.

For the first time, love wasn’t dangerous anymore.

Because this time—

She chose herself.
