Whispers Between Us

Whispers Between Us

Chapter 1 — The Quiet Girl

(This Is Roseanne Park aka Rosé)

This is park Jimin

That evening, Rosé stayed late at the music room practicing guitar.

The building was quiet.

Too quiet.

When she finished playing, she heard footsteps behind her.

She turned.

Jimin stood at the door.

“You play beautifully,” he said.

Rosé blinked.

“You were listening?”

“For a while.”

Silence filled the room.

Then Rosé asked something she had wondered for weeks.

“Jimin… are the rumors about you true?”

The air suddenly felt heavier.

He didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, he walked closer.

“Does it scare you?”

Rosé thought for a moment.

Then she shook her head.

“No.”

“Why not?”

“Because when I look at you… you don’t seem like a bad person.”

Jimin stared at her.

No one had ever answered him like that.

Finally, he spoke quietly.

“My world isn’t simple, Rosé.”

“I know.”

“You could get hurt.”

She smiled softly.

“Then don’t let me.”

For the first time, Jimin looked genuinely surprised.

Then something in his eyes softened.

✨The university library was almost empty.

Soft afternoon sunlight slipped through the tall windows, falling across rows of books and wooden tables.

Rosé sat quietly in the corner, a notebook open in front of her, but her pen hadn’t moved for five minutes.😌

She wasn’t thinking about her notes.🤔

She was thinking about him.🌚🤫

Everyone on campus knew Park Jimin.😚🔥

Not because he was loud or arrogant—actually, he was the opposite. Calm. Polite. Mysterious. Yet rumors followed him everywhere.

People said his family controlled powerful businesses… some whispered darker things.

Rosé didn’t believe the rumors.☺️

Still, whenever he walked past, her heart forgot how to beat normally.🫠

At that exact moment, the library door opened.

Rosé looked up.

Jimin walked in.

Black coat. Calm eyes. Hands casually in his pockets. The quiet confidence around him made people automatically move aside.

Rosé immediately looked back down at her notebook.

Don’t look at him… don’t look at him…

Too late.

Footsteps stopped near her table.

Her heart dropped.

“Rosé.”

His voice was gentle.

She slowly looked up.

“Yes…?”

“Is this seat taken?”

Her brain stopped working.

“N-No…”

Jimin pulled the chair and sat across from her.

Just like that.

Rosé tried to focus on her notes, but it was impossible.

Jimin sitting across from her felt like a storm quietly waiting to happen.

After a few minutes, he spoke again.

“You always sit here.”

Rosé blinked. “You noticed?”

He gave a small smile.

“I notice a lot of things.”

Her cheeks turned pink.

Across the room, whispers started.

“Look… Jimin is sitting with her.”

“Isn’t she the shy music major?”

“Why her?”

Rosé heard every word.

She lowered her head.

Jimin noticed.

His expression hardened slightly.

Then he leaned forward.

“Don’t listen to them.”

Rosé looked up, surprised.

“They talk about you too?” she asked softly.

A quiet laugh escaped him.

“More than you know.”

For a moment, their eyes met.

Something warm and dangerous passed between them.

Two days later, Rosé was running through the university corridor.

She was late for class again.

“Why does the music building have to be so far—”

Her foot slipped.

“Ah—!”

She fell.

Books scattered across the floor.

Embarrassment burned her face.

Then a shadow fell beside her.

Someone crouched down.

A familiar voice spoke softly.

“Careful.”

Rosé looked up.

Jimin.

Of course it was him.

He picked up her books one by one.

“You run like the corridor is chasing you.”

Rosé laughed nervously. “Maybe it is.”

He handed her the last book.

But their hands touched.

Just for a second.

Both froze.

Rosé quickly pulled her hand back.

“S-Sorry!”

Jimin tilted his head slightly.

“For what?”

“For… falling?”

This time he laughed properly.

The sound was warm and rare.

“You’re strange.”

Her cheeks turned red again.

That evening, Rosé stayed late at the music room practicing guitar.

The building was quiet.

Too quiet.

Then something in his eyes softened.

Rain started outside.

Rosé stood near the window watching it.

Jimin stood beside her.

Neither spoke for a while.

Then he said quietly,

“You’re the only person here who talks to me normally.”

Rosé smiled.

“That’s because you talk normally too.”

He looked at her.

Really looked.

“Rosé.”

“Yes?”

“If I asked you to stay close to me… would you?”

Her heart raced.

She didn’t answer immediately.

Instead she whispered,

“I think… I already am.”

Jimin smiled.

Not the calm, mysterious smile everyone saw.

But a real one.

Outside, the rain continued to fall softly.

Inside, something new had quietly begun.
