BOLD MOVES

CHAPTER 5

Seoul’s skyline glittered as night fell, neon lights reflecting off the glass of towering skyscrapers. Min Jae-Hyun walked briskly down the crowded streets, hands stuffed into his jacket pockets, trying to ignore the tension knotting his chest. He shouldn’t think about Dmitri Volkov. He shouldn’t feel the pull that made his pulse race and his skin tingle.

But he couldn’t help it.

Earlier that day, at the precinct, Alexander Kane had called again. Smooth, confident, and insufferably charming, he had hinted that he was stepping up his interest in Jae-Hyun, reminding the officer that Dmitri wasn’t the only man in his life paying attention. The words had made Jae-Hyun clench his fists, angry that someone else could invade his thoughts, and yet… the idea stirred something deep inside him.

Dmitri, however, was already planning his next move. Sitting in the dim glow of his penthouse, he stared at the city below, Ivan beside him, eyes dark with intent.

“He’s resisting,” Ivan said quietly, “but he’s interested. You can feel it.”

Dmitri’s smirk deepened, a dangerous glint in his eyes. “Good. Let him resist. Let him fight. That’s what makes taking him… mine… so much sweeter.”

Later that evening, Dmitri appeared outside Jae-Hyun’s apartment with that same effortless calm, as if he belonged there. When Jae-Hyun opened the door, Dmitri didn’t wait for an invitation. He stepped inside, a faint scent of cologne mixing with the air, sending a shiver down Jae-Hyun’s spine.

“You’re hard to find,” Dmitri murmured, moving closer, the subtle pressure of his presence making Jae-Hyun instinctively tense.

“I… I don’t—” Jae-Hyun began, stubbornness flaring, but Dmitri silenced him with a sharp, teasing grin.

“Don’t deny it,” he whispered, brushing a hand lightly over the officer’s arm, a touch possessive yet deliberate. “I can see it in your eyes. You want this… more than you’re willing to admit.”

Jae-Hyun glared, lips pressed into a thin line, trying to push back the heat rising through him. “You’re insufferable,” he spat, though his heartbeat betrayed him, racing too fast, too unevenly.

Dmitri leaned closer, just enough that Jae-Hyun could feel his breath. “Insufferable? Perhaps. But irresistible… undeniable. And I will have you.”

The teasing energy between them thickened, electric and suffocating, until Dmitri pressed forward, lips brushing against Jae-Hyun’s in a suddenly censored, stolen kiss, taking the officer by surprise. Jae-Hyun froze, chest heaving, eyes wide, caught between resistance and something deeper, darker, and undeniable.

Pulling back just enough to tease, Dmitri smirked. “You can fight… but you won’t win.”

And Jae-Hyun knew he couldn’t. Not entirely.

Outside, the night carried on, oblivious to the tension in Jae-Hyun’s apartment. Inside, a dangerous game of desire, obsession, and stubborn resistance had taken a bold new turn. Dmitri had made his move—and Jae-Hyun was beginning, however reluctantly, to notice just how inescapable the Russian’s obsession was.

Alexander Kane’s shadow still lingered, a polished threat in the background, but for now, all that mattered was the dangerous, intoxicating heat between the stubborn officer and the man determined to claim him.
