Chapter 2: Newcomer's introduction

The sunlight filtered through the air, Marcoh's eyes glinting, her scared cheek covered slightly by her dark hair. The blindness on her right scarred eye visible.

She looks...

... Bored.

Not the kind of bored that you are too lazy to do something, but the kind of bored that is "I don't want to do this know."

...kind of bored, to say the least.

She exhaled once, walking alongside the Lieutenant, the breeze ruffling her hair, coat swaying behind her, hands in her pockets.

The silence was long and deafening, until Marcoh broke it, her voice low, her words measured, as she looked slightly up at the lieutenant, her gaze raising to come to her stoic face.

Why is she always like this?

She wanted to ask. But something entirely different came out of her mouth.

"So, who is this Alchemist, again? She... is at the headquarters or somethin'? Waiting?"

She asked casually, then later shifting her gaze to the path in front of them. Then, she continued speaking:

"And how come she is here and not at Creta? Aren't we supposed to be... archenemies? Or something?"

Riza Hawkeye, on the other hand, lowered her gaze on Marcoh, her look calculating her. After what seemed like a long moment, she spoke, voice stoic, her demeanor as well as expected from the military.

"Her name is Eiri. But rather her code name is Ragingwaves."

She paused for a few seconds, giving some time for Marcoh to think:

Eiri...hm..Eiri Eiri Eiri.... Why is the name so familiar to me? Do I know her from somewhere?

Riza cut off Marcoh's train of thoughts and continued again, her voice slightly raised.

"She is here in Amestris because she has family here."

Did she skip something? It feels like she skipped a part... I would rather stay silent though.

Marcoh thought, her hands in her pockets as they both walked towards Riza's vehicle.

The interior was cozy. White seats, windows on both sides of the back seats, anyone could probably get comfortable there. The glass was slightly tinted, allowing lesser light to go into the car. It was a somewhat simple design. Anyhow, they drove all the way to the military headquarters.

Inside the building was pretty busy, the hallways and each area and room, either, dimly lit, or the shine of the light was turned on from a light switch. Eventually it didn't take long to reach the Colonel's office.

Lieutenant Hawkeye knocked on the large dark door, gloved hand softly yet a bit hardly tapping the thick material. After a moment a strong, masculine voice rang from behind the door, sounding professional.

"You may enter."

Soon enough, Lieutenant opened the door, and they were both presented with Colonel Roy mustang sitting across the room at his desk, his elbows both placed on top of it and his hands covering part of his face. He gestured towards an empty seat after noticing Marcoh. Lieutenant later entered after Marcoh, closing the door behind her, her hands dropped at her sides, her face stern. The silence stretched quite a bit, as Marcoh went ahead and took the seat Colonel was gesturing at. She turned to look at the newcomer, Eiri, as they called her, her face... her expression quite uh...

...excited.

... Kind of too much for poor Marcoh. She seemed like she could just approach Marcoh, hug her, talk much, talk loudly... Marcoh didn't really like it that much from what it seems.

The new State Alchemist, Ragingwaves, seemed in her late twenties. Her hair brown, mid-length, her eyes split color, one blue like the ocean, the other green like emerald. Her arms clasped in front of her like she is in a church, and there is a huge smile on her face. Other than that, she wore a dark blue shirt, light blue trousers with dark blue wave-like shapes on the bottom, and some black boots, thay were probably one of the things she... KIND OF... liked about her, or rather, seemed of her, or on her.

Marcoh's expression shifted to... a small frown.

She looked over at Riza, then Mustang, with a somewhat dumbfounded expression on her face. She notices the long silence and speaks up, turning her head to face Eiri's eyes that were huge and filled with excitement.

Okay...

"Uh... nice to meet you...? Name's Marcoh Quelmelric."

She said, her voice etched with something like she is weirded out on something, but Eiri just didn't notice the tone she was using in her voice, or her expression. What she did notice instead, was the clear hand extending from Marcoh for a handshake, metal clacking under the sleeves and gloved hands. She almost instinctively took her hand and shook it, then pulled it away and started talking.

...More like rambling, for Marcoh.

"Hello! Good Morning! Nice to meet you!! My name is Eiriene Veißrig, but you can call me just Eiri! And you must be the Bloodlust Alchemist, right? One of the youngest? I heard you are as old as the Fullmetal Alchemist!"

Marcoh raised an eyebrow and just spoke again, her voice now a bit... edged, you could say, as she took her hand away, on top of her lap. Her voice in a tone almost professional too, her lids half open, as always, like she is tired.

"Aha... Eiriene Veißrig, you say... morning, I guess. And yes, I am indeed Bloodlust Alchemist. And you are correct, I am fifteen years old, same age as the boy."

She pauses, looking up and down at Eiriene, her expression calculating, watching.

That woman is ringing a bell, bit not quite...

She thought, and then continued the talk, her voice ringing out once again:

"So, I suppose I was summoned here to take you to a tour around the place? Wouldn't it be more fun and interestingi if you taught the ins and outs of this place on your own? No offense."

Eiriene's raised her gaze on the ceiling, thinking for a moment, before her gaze drifted down Marcoh's eyes, the mismatched colors shimmering in the light of the room, the light practically bouncing on them. She responded to Marcoh.

"I guess it could be nice... And an itty-bitty adventure or something. But I would like a tour from a fellow Alchemist too. Not to mention I know completely nothing about Amestris's map and I suck at navigating. He-he...he..."

"You should probably start by now, otherwise you wouldn't be able to reach the train in time to travel to Lior...,"

A second voice was heard, as Mustang spoke again, his voice seeming professional, like he knows what he is doing and what he is talking about

Travel to Lior?! The hell is he talking about? Is it another mission? I just took a break from the last one! Well, I guess I could do so, since it might change people's lives..

"...With the Fullmetal."

Colonel continued, and completely breaking down Marcoh's little train of thoughts.

Marcoh looked, once again, dumbfounded, devastated. She lolled her head forwards, groaning out of desperation to not go along with that specific Alchemist.

"...why him..? Why not anyone else...?"

"Because it might be dangerous, even for you, Marcoh-"

Mustang spoke, but Marcoh cut him off.

"..Oh- c'mon! I can defend myself. I can't literally do the same stuff he does!"

Mustang sighed once, and looked at Marcoh, his deep, dark, black, eyes turning a sharp gaze on her.

"There is no time to argue, Bloodlust."

Mustang stated.

...There is no time to argue, myeh myeh myeh myeh myeh..! The only thing I want right now is some peace and quiet, why have I been hit with a brick of "touring" and the "Lior thing" on the head?

She thought, groaned again and has arisen, Turning to look at Eiriene, looking at her with a somewhat frown, eyebrows furrowed.

"Well, are you coming or not? You have listened to the Colonel, I imagine, there is no time to waste after all!"

And with that she gripped Eiriene's hand, not quite harsh, hard, nor soft and gentle, and she just marched down and opened the door, dragging Eiriene out with her. Surprisingly for Marcoh, Eiriene didn't argue or yell at her, she just went along with it, smiling as the door closed behind them.

From inside the room, Mustang said to Hawkeye:

"That girl is just never going to learn, nor teach herself, how to control that temper of hers, will she?"
