Chapter 4: The answers and Lior

(This is one of my favorite works, so OF COURSE ALREADY FOUR CHAPTERS :D :D :D. Anyway, warnings for some violence.) (Fun fact: I ship Edcoh. Anyhow, back to the story. (also some mild language) Another quick thing that Eiriene's name is pronounced "Ah-ee-ree-neh" and Eiri: "Ah-ee-ree")

"WH- What are you doing here in Amestris? How come you became a State Alchemist, what do you know about Alchemy? What can you do? And don't lie, I want to hear every. Single. Thing. You have to say."

Eiriene smiles softly at Marcoh's questions, but Marcoh thought it was a bad thing that she smiled, of course.

"Well... Let's start with the first question..."

Why is she looking at me like that? And why the fuck is she talking in that tone of her voice like I'm some child?

Marcoh thought, as Eiriene continued to talk, a bit further away while she is sitting next to her, closer to the window.

"I have some family left here in Amestris, and Creta didn't exactly like the concept of Alchemy, nor Alchehestry for whatever reason."

Marcoh slowly leaned slightly forward in interest, raising and eyebrow and asking:

"What is Alchehestry exactly?"

"Alchehestry is eastern Alchemy, mostly used for medical purposes." Eiriene replied simply, then continued with the rest of the questions Marcoh previously asked.

"So... I kind of became a State Alchemist because I like the job, y'know? I kinda like taking some risks, I know it's dangerous. And I know pretty much a lot about Alchemy."

Marcoh raised both eyebrows at first, wondering if she knew the risks, but as the rest of the reply settled in, she came to understanding. Eiriene continued:

"And I can do a lot of stuff to, and probably the same you guys do, or more, or less, or different. But I mostly do control water. Like, its temperatures and stuff."

"Alright... nice, cool, I mean.. i-it's okay."

Marcoh forced out of herself, then the sound of the intercom came in, announcing the stop. 'Lior', and as long as Marco didn't want to move at all she had to get up along with the others.

Eiri was the first to step out, the breeze moving her brown hair, she blinked, exhaled, and Marched forwards towards the small town of Lior. Marcoh walked out after her, her scarred eye visible in the sun, and afterwards comes Edward, his red coat kind of whooshing in the wind, exposing 'some' automail under that coat sleeve. And of course, at last, comes Alphonse, Ed's younger brother, his metal armor clacking softly as he steps out.

Lior was quite the friendly town, pretty much. Everyone greeted them nicely. The afternoon air was quite warm, as well, the sun almost setting, filtering through the clouds, sun shines and light falling on the four. Marcoh sighed once and said:

"So, what is the problem here? Seems like the friendly type of town, and I don't see any 'wanted' nor any 'missing' posters anywhere."

"I am not so sure either,"

Came a voice from behind her, as Edward spoke, his voice composed and... For some reason, Marcoh felt a little, itty-bitty tiny feeling inside of her chest, but she brushed it off, thinking it was the climate change or the many people around her. Anyhow, Edward continued with his speech:

"Last time we arrived her with Al, it was nothing to be scared of or anything. But, indeed, something could have happened as the time passed on. In the meantime, let's just focus on what might be happening here."

"A-agreed." Marcoh said, almost forcing it out of herself, she stumbled across her words a little.

Why did I stutter? What is wrong with me? Does it have to do with the climate, or anything else? I swear to god-

But her thoughts were being cut off by Alphonse, who spoke in a soft voice that echoed from inside the armor.

"I think it might have to do with something from the military, perhaps? Or a suspicion we were sent to investigate?"

"Investigate what, exactly? Did the Colonel just sent us here to find out by ourselves without even telling us what it is?" Marcoh said, with a frown, her eyebrows furrowed.

"Maybe... It is a test?" Came out of Eiriene, her voice was a spark long to be heard, which Marcoh didn't miss at all, not even one bit.

"A test? Are you serious right now? I need my beauty sleep right now,, or I am going to collapse to the ground right here and now." Marcoh spoke again, groaning and leaning slightly forwards. She continued: "Let me guess, this is just going to almost get me killed again like last time, will it not? If someone is trying to assassinate me, just do it with style and creativity, not some mediocre arrow..!" This time she said it tiredly, her arms that were gesturing and swinging from her hips, now came to rest crossed in front of her. Pointing at behind her shoulder as she did so, before dropping the arm crossed. "It gave me the chills. But seriously now, what test would it be?"

Eiriene just stared at her with a raised eyebrow and parted lips, her expression shocked but then quickly gains her composure again, her shoulders going from stiff to relaxed and gestured with her arms an "I-don't-know".

But Marcoh just groaned and started walking towards the rest of the town, a church in the middle of the small town, for, she supposed, "Sun God Leto".

"Okay, so I guess off we go?" Came Alphonse’s soft-spoken voice.

"I guess so." Eiriene said, casually.

In the town, they stumbled across a small, from what it seems, like a bar? Restaurant? Hell if she knows.

As Alphonse walked alongside them, he accidentally knocked down the radio and broke it.

"Oh man, how are we going to have some entertainment around here now?" Came the supposed owner, I guess? A worker, either way.

And as word would have it, Edward stepped it and fixed it with no transmutation circle, just like Marcoh.

"Amazing! This is some kind of Miracle! You must have been blessed!"

"Blessed? This is just basic Alchemy, this is no miracle." Edward said, with a soft chuckle that rumbled through his chest. "Us four are State Alchemists."

"Alchemists? Yeah, I heard of you guys, And you must be the Fullmetal Alchemist!" They guy said, looking up at Alphonse with an admired smile.

Marcoh snorted from a small distance, trying her best not to laugh out loud at Edward, covering part of her face, the half bottom to be exact, her cheeks, tip of her nose, and mouth, her body shaking a little from the quiet laughter.

Edward did get mad.. And gritted his teeth as he spoke through bis teeth, looking at the person. "I am the Fullmetal Alchemist, and this is my younger brother Alphonse..!"

Marcoh snorted just two words through the quiet laughter, her voice a soft murmur from the small distance, that Edward definitely heard. "Oh my gosh, you are short..."

Edward almost immediately turned his head towards Marcoh, his fists curled up into balls, tight. "I am not short, I am average for my age, you heat that? Average." Edward said through his teeth, a hiss that the worker did not, unfortunately, hear.

"Anyway," Eiriene cut through the small conversation. "...We must... go, sir, excuse us for any disturbance that we might have caused."

And off they went...

...To explore Lior and Its mysteries of what lies lie beyond.
