CH 5: THE JEALOUS SISTER AND THE SHOPPING SPREE

The atmosphere in the dining room was tense. Faye couldn’t take her eyes off Felix. She was burning with jealousy. She had always been the favored daughter, the beautiful one, yet here was her sister married to a man who looked like a God and held the power of life and death in his hands.

"Brother-in-law," Faye purred, trying to sound sweet, moving her chair slightly closer to Felix, ignoring Chloe completely. "I didn't know you were so young and handsome. My parents really described you poorly. It’s such a surprise."

Felix didn’t even look at her. He just cut his steak calmly, his expression cold. Instead, he reached out and cut Chloe’s food into small pieces, placing them gently on her plate.

"Eat, Chloe. Don't starve yourself," he said softly, his voice completely different from how he spoke to others.

Chloe blushed and nodded. She could feel Faye’s dagger-like glare on her, but with Felix beside her, she didn’t feel scared anymore.

"Chloe," Faye said sharply, "aren't you going to introduce us properly? And tell us, how is married life? Is he... strict? I bet it's hard to live with an old... I mean, powerful man like him." She tried to hint that Felix was old, trying to make him look less perfect.

But Felix finally turned his gaze to Faye. His eyes were ice-cold, sending shivers down her spine.

"Old?" Felix smirked. "I am thirty-one. In my prime. And yes, I am strict. Especially when it comes to my wife. Anyone who looks down on her... or tries to mock her... will regret it."

He emphasized his words, making it clear that he knew exactly what Faye was trying to do.

"Now," Felix stood up and straightened his suit. "I have business to attend to. Chloe, get ready. After lunch, we are going out."

"Going out?" Chloe asked surprised.

"Yes. Shopping," Felix winked. "My wife needs new clothes, jewelry, and everything a Queen deserves. You can't wear those plain dresses forever anymore. You are Mrs. Reed now."

Later that afternoon...

[ SCENE: LUXURY MALL / BOUTIQUE ]

Chloe had never experienced anything like this. They didn’t just go to a normal store; the entire luxury mall section was cleared and closed specifically for them. Security guards stood everywhere, and the shop assistants bowed respectfully.

"Mrs. Reed, please choose anything you like," Felix said, sitting on a luxurious sofa, watching her with loving eyes. "Everything in this store is yours. Just point, and it will be delivered home."

"Felix, this is too much," Chloe stammered, looking at the price tags that cost more than her monthly allowance before. "I don't need that many things."

"Nonsense," Felix stood up and walked towards her. He picked up a stunning red dress and held it against her. "You have the body and the face. You just need the right clothes to show it. And I want everyone to see how beautiful my wife is."

He then picked up a diamond necklace and walked behind her. He gently placed it around her neck, his fingers brushing against her skin, making her shiver.

"Perfect," he whispered near her ear. "It matches your beauty."

Suddenly, the door opened and Faye walked in, followed by their mother. They had followed them, unable to accept what was happening.

"Wow! So this is how you live now?" Faye said loudly, eyeing the necklace greedily. "Chloe, that necklace is too flashy for you! Why don't you give it to me? I would wear it better. Or maybe Brother-in-law can buy one for me too? I am your sister-in-law after all."

Faye boldly approached Felix, trying to touch his arm. "Felix... please? Just one small thing?"

But before she could touch him, Felix moved away instantly, his face turning dark and dangerous. He pulled Chloe behind him, shielding her.

"Don't you dare touch me," Felix growled, his voice low and terrifying. "And don't you dare look at what belongs to her. Everything I give to my wife is for her alone. You are not welcome here."

He turned to his assistant. "Get them out. And make sure they are never allowed to enter any of my properties again."

"Felix! How can you do this?!" Mother shouted.

"Chloe is my family now," Felix said firmly. "You treated her like trash before. Now she is my treasure. Stay away from her."

Faye and their mother were dragged away, humiliated and angry.

Chloe looked at Felix, her heart full. "Thank you... for defending me again."

Felix turned back to her, his expression softening immediately. He held her hands.

"I told you, little wife. From now on, I am the only one who can protect you, and the only one who can spoil you. Let's go home."
