The intruders backed away, but Ren stepped forward, his voice low and dangerous.
“Tell your boss this:
If you come after my wife again, I’ll make sure you regret breathing.”
Aika blinked.

The words hit her harder than she expected.

“You planned this?”
Ren shrugged.
“Not exactly. But I’m good at improvising.”
Aika sighed.
“You’re reckless.”
“And you’re stubborn.”
They stared at each other, tension thick in the air.
Then Aika said quietly:
“…Thank you.”
Ren blinked.
“For what?”
“For having my back.”
Ren smiled—soft, real.
“Always.”
Aika looked away quickly, cheeks warming.
“Don’t say things like that.”
“Why not?”
“Because it’s annoying.”
Ren laughed.
“No. You just don’t know how to handle it.”
Aika didn’t answer.
Because he was right.

As they left the warehouse, Aika noticed something on the ground—a small metal emblem.
She picked it up.
A crescent moon crossed by a blade.
Her blood ran cold.
“Ren… this isn’t Tsukishiro.”
Ren stepped closer.
“Then who?”
Aika closed her hand around the emblem.
“…A rogue faction. One that was erased years ago.”
Ren’s eyes narrowed.
“Erased?”
Aika nodded slowly.
“They call themselves Kagegiri. The Shadow Cutters.”
Ren exhaled.
“So the ghosts of the underworld are crawling back.”
Aika met his gaze.
“And they’re coming for us.”
Ren stepped closer, his voice low.
“Then let them come.”
Aika’s heart skipped.
Because for the first time…
she didn’t feel alone.
