Chapter : 3 Realizaton

When a new family moved into the house next to ours, everything felt completely normal at first. They had a daughter around my age, and slowly we became close friends. At first, we only exchanged greetings, but after some time we started talking every day. Soon, she became one of my closest friends. We spent hours together, shared secrets, laughed over small things, and told each other everything about our lives.

At that time, Aabdal had already become an important part of my life. We had known each other since childhood. He was always funny around me, always making me laugh, and somehow I always felt comfortable whenever he was near. But I never seriously thought about my feelings for him. I believed it was just normal attachment and nothing more.

One evening, my friend and I were sitting on the terrace together. The sky was painted orange by the sunset, and the cool wind made everything feel peaceful. She suddenly started smiling shyly while looking down at her hands.

I looked at her curiously and asked, “Why are you smiling like that?”

She hesitated for a moment before quietly saying, “I think I like Aabdal.”

For a few seconds, I stayed silent. Then I forced a small smile and replied, “That’s good.”

At that moment, I honestly did not feel anything strange. Or maybe I did, but I ignored it without realizing.

After that day, I started noticing small changes. She began staying around him more often. She smiled whenever she saw him, tried to start conversations with him, and found reasons to stand close to him. Aabdal talked to her normally and politely, completely unaware of what was happening inside my mind.

Everything looked normal from the outside.

But inside me, something slowly started changing.

Whenever I saw them together, I felt uncomfortable for no reason. My chest felt heavy, and a strange irritation grew inside me. I kept trying to convince myself that maybe I was just afraid of losing my friend or being left out. But deep down, I knew that was not the truth.

One day, I saw her laughing with him while he smiled back at her. I was standing a little far away, quietly watching them. Suddenly, a painful feeling tightened inside my chest. It felt as if someone had taken something important away from me.

That was the moment everything finally became clear.

I was jealous.

And jealousy only appears when someone becomes truly special to your heart.

That night, I could not sleep at all. I kept thinking about him — his smile, the way he called my name, the way he always made me feel safe and comfortable. Memory after memory kept replaying in my mind until I finally understood the truth I had ignored for so long.

I did not just like him.

I loved him.

And maybe I had loved him for much longer than I realized.Maybe my heart had known the truth long before my mind accepted it.🥺
