Chapter 5: The truth i never wanted to tell

After the proposal was rejected, I thought my close friend just needed some time. For a few days, she seemed distant and quiet. But suddenly, everything started to feel normal again.

She talked to me the way she used to, sat beside me, and smiled like nothing had happened. Seeing her like that made me believe that things were finally okay between us.

But I didn't know that not every smile is real.

Meanwhile, the main lead had started talking to me more than before. For some reason, he had almost stopped talking to my close friend. He treated me like a good friend, and we spent more time together talking about random things, laughing over silly moments, and sharing our thoughts.

Being around him made me happy.

Happier than I wanted to admit.

Every time my close friend saw us talking, there was something strange in her eyes—pain, anger, and jealousy all mixed together. But I never noticed it. I simply thought she was still trying to move on.

One day, she smiled at me and said, "I don't love him anymore."

Hearing that made me feel relieved. I thought everything had finally gone back to normal.

Little did I know, she was lying.

Deep inside, she still loved him.

And somewhere in her heart, she blamed me for taking away the person she loved.

One evening, we were sitting together with nothing much to do, so we decided to play Truth or Dare.

At first, everything was fun. We laughed, teased each other, and for the first time in a while, it felt like my old friend had come back.

Then it was my turn.

She looked straight into my eyes and said,

"Truth."

I nodded.

There was a brief silence before she asked the question that I had feared the most.

"Do you have feelings for him?"

The moment I heard those words, my heart skipped a beat.

I lowered my eyes.

A thousand thoughts ran through my mind.

Should I tell the truth?

Or should I hide my feelings once again?

For years, I had buried those emotions deep inside my heart, pretending they didn't exist.

But maybe I was tired of lying to myself.

After a long silence, I finally took a deep breath and whispered,

"Yes."

I paused before continuing.

"I've had feelings for him for a very long time."

The moment those words left my mouth, something changed.

My close friend's smile slowly widened.

But there was something strange about it.

Something cold.

Something I had never seen before.

She didn't say a single word.

She just kept smiling.As I looked at her smiling face, an uneasy feeling settled in my heart, unaware that this game had changed our friendship forever and marked the beginning of something far darker.
