Chapter 1: Morning Chaos

Morning sunlight spilled through the massive glass windows of Hanseong University, covering the campus in warm golden light. Students filled the walkways, some rushing toward classes while others lazily carried iced coffees and unfinished assignments.

But inside the university cafeteria, peace had already died.

“Park Jimin, if you touch my strawberry milk again, I will personally ruin your love life,” Kim Taehyung announced dramatically while protecting his drink with both hands.

Jimin looked deeply offended. “Excuse you? My love life is already tragic.”

Across the table, Cha Eun-Woo calmly continued eating his toast as if the chaos surrounding him had nothing to do with him.

“You literally flirt with every living creature,” Eun-Woo said quietly.

“That’s called being friendly.”

“That’s called being a public threat,” Sunoo corrected while laughing loudly.

Taehyung leaned back in his chair, grinning proudly at the disaster of a friend group he had somehow created. Between Jimin’s dramatic complaints, Sunoo’s uncontrollable laughter, and Eun-Woo’s exhausted silence, every morning felt like surviving a reality show.

And honestly?

Taehyung loved it.

The cafeteria manager, already tired at eight in the morning, pointed toward their table. “No yelling today!”

“We’re peaceful people!” Jimin shouted back immediately.

“You were literally standing on a chair ten minutes ago,” Eun-Woo muttered.

Meanwhile, outside the cafeteria, a sleek black car slowly stopped near the main university entrance.

The atmosphere shifted instantly.

Students nearby straightened their posture. Conversations quieted. Even professors glanced toward the entrance curiously.

Taehyung noticed the sudden silence and frowned. “Why does everyone suddenly look like they saw a ghost?”

Sunoo gasped dramatically while checking the university group chat.

“Oh no.”

“What?”

“He’s here.”

“Who?”

Before Sunoo could answer, the cafeteria doors opened.

And Jeon Jungkook walked in.

The entire room seemed to freeze for half a second.

Dressed in a black suit beneath a long dark coat, Jungkook looked calm, elegant, and completely untouchable. His expression remained unreadable as his sharp eyes scanned the cafeteria once before moving forward.

Taehyung stared openly.

Not because Jungkook was handsome.

Okay, maybe slightly because he was ridiculously handsome.

But mostly because he looked painfully serious.

“He looks emotionally unavailable,” Taehyung whispered.

Jimin nodded immediately. “Terrifyingly.”

Near the entrance, Jung Hoseok followed behind Jungkook carrying several files and an iced americano.

“Your nine o’clock meeting with Principal Kim Namjoon is ready,” Hoseok informed quietly.

Jungkook nodded once before finally noticing the loud table near the center of the cafeteria.

Specifically—

Kim Taehyung.

Taehyung was still staring directly at him without shame.

Most people avoided eye contact with Jeon Jungkook.

This stranger looked almost entertained by him.

Interesting.

Taehyung tilted his head slightly before smiling lazily.

Jungkook looked away first.

Sunoo immediately slapped Taehyung’s arm. “Did you just stare down the Jeon Jungkook?”

“I think he blinked first,” Taehyung replied proudly.

“You’re insane.”

“You’re only realizing this now?”

Not far away, Principal Kim Namjoon entered the cafeteria while reading documents on his tablet. Beside him walked Kim Seokjin, carrying coffee and trying not to smile at Namjoon’s permanently stressed expression.

“You skipped breakfast again,” Seokjin scolded softly.

“I’m busy.”

“You’re always busy.”

Namjoon sighed quietly because Seokjin was unfortunately correct.

Their fingers brushed briefly while taking coffee from the counter.

A small moment.

Quick enough that nobody noticed.

Except Jungkook did.

And Seokjin absolutely noticed Jungkook noticing.

Unfortunately for Namjoon, Seokjin looked dangerously amused afterward.

Back at Taehyung’s table, Jimin suddenly leaned forward dramatically.

“Wait,” he whispered loudly. “What if Jungkook becomes your enemy?”

Taehyung took a slow sip of his drink.

Then smiled.

“Too late,” he said confidently. “I already want to annoy him.”

Across the cafeteria, Jungkook accepted coffee from Hoseok while silently watching Taehyung laugh loudly at something Jimin said.

Too loud.

Too dramatic.

Too distracting.

And somehow—

Impossible to ignore.

Jungkook frowned slightly before walking toward the faculty section.

He had only arrived at Hanseong University that morning.

Yet somehow, Kim Taehyung already felt like the beginning of a problem.

A very dangerous problem.
