Chapter 4 Library Wars and Dangerous Curiosity

Monday mornings at Hanseong University always felt painfully slow.

Students dragged themselves across campus carrying unfinished assignments and iced coffees strong enough to destroy human emotions. The peaceful atmosphere might have survived—

If Kim Taehyung and Park Jimin had not entered the library together.

“Why does this place smell like depression?” Jimin whispered dramatically while looking around at the endless bookshelves.

“Because students come here willingly,” Taehyung replied.

Ahead of them, the librarian narrowed her eyes immediately.

“Last warning,” she said coldly. “If either of you causes trouble again, you’re banned permanently.”

Taehyung placed a hand over his chest. “You wound me. We are respectful students.”

“You once used a history book to kill a mosquito.”

“In my defense, the mosquito attacked first.”

Cha Eun-Woo quietly walked past them toward the architecture section without reacting. He had clearly accepted that this was simply his life now.

Meanwhile, near the large window at the far end of the library, Jeon Jungkook sat alone reviewing company documents on his laptop.

The silence around him felt almost intimidating.

Nobody dared approach him.

Nobody except—

“Oh.”

Taehyung stopped walking.

Jimin followed his gaze before immediately looking excited. “Well, well.”

Jungkook looked up slowly from his laptop.

Their eyes met again.

And somehow, Taehyung immediately smiled like he had just discovered a new form of entertainment.

“Good morning, scary CEO,” Taehyung greeted casually.

Several nearby students looked horrified.

Nobody spoke to Jeon Jungkook like that.

But Jungkook simply closed his laptop slowly before answering.

“Good morning… chaotic student.”

Jimin physically grabbed Taehyung’s arm to stop himself from laughing loudly.

“Oh my god,” he whispered. “He’s learning sarcasm.”

Taehyung looked genuinely impressed. “You know, for someone emotionally unavailable, you’re adapting well.”

Jungkook stared at him calmly. “For someone constantly talking, you ask surprisingly interesting questions.”

Taehyung blinked once.

That—

Unexpectedly caught him off guard.

Before he could recover, the librarian suddenly appeared again.

“Kim Taehyung,” she warned quietly. “Stop bothering people.”

“He started looking at me first.”

Jungkook almost looked offended.

Almost.

Nearby, Jimin abandoned Taehyung completely after noticing someone entering the music archive section.

Min Yoongi.

Dressed in oversized black clothing and carrying headphones around his neck, Yoongi looked half-awake as usual while searching through music composition books.

Jimin immediately smiled mischievously.

“Oh,” he whispered. “My favorite grumpy person.”

Yoongi noticed him almost instantly.

Then sighed like life had personally betrayed him.

“Why are you here?” Yoongi asked flatly.

“To brighten your sad little life.”

“My life was peaceful before you existed.”

Jimin gasped dramatically. “That sounds emotionally important.”

“You’re exhausting.”

“And yet you noticed when I arrived.”

Yoongi looked away immediately, which unfortunately told Jimin everything he needed to know.

Across the library, Taehyung finally sat across from Jungkook without permission.

“You know,” Taehyung said while opening a random book he had no intention of reading, “students are terrified of you.”

“That sounds reasonable.”

“You enjoy it?”

Jungkook leaned back slightly in his chair. “Fear keeps people disciplined.”

Taehyung frowned thoughtfully.

“That sounds lonely.”

For the first time that morning—

Jungkook paused.

The sunlight through the library windows fell softly across Taehyung’s face while he absentmindedly played with a pencil between his fingers.

Too loud.

Too reckless.

Too observant.

Jungkook disliked how easily Taehyung disrupted his thoughts.

Before he could answer, a female student suddenly approached their table nervously.

“Taehyung?” she asked shyly. “Can I get your number?”

Taehyung blinked.

Then smiled politely.

Jungkook’s expression remained calm.

But something about the situation irritated him immediately.

Unfortunately, he could not explain why.

Jimin noticed from across the room.

And looked absolutely delighted.

“Oh,” Jimin whispered to Yoongi while watching Jungkook carefully. “This is becoming interesting.”

Yoongi followed his gaze toward Jungkook and Taehyung before raising one eyebrow slowly.

“…That CEO looks jealous.”

Jimin grinned proudly.

“Exactly.”
