CHAPTER 4 : Hearts Beginning to change

Asha quickly pulled herself away from Sele’s arms, lowering her face shyly.

“You came for your shirt… I’m sorry, I haven’t washed it yet,” she said softly while handing it to him.

Sele looked at the shirt before smiling gently.

“No… I didn’t come for the shirt,” he said while staring directly into her eyes.

Asha looked confused.

“Then what did you come for?”

Sele stepped a little closer.

“I came for you.”

Asha froze in shock.

“Me?”

“Yes,” Sele answered calmly. “Since yesterday, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you. I think… I’m falling in love with you.”

Before he could finish speaking—

SLAP!

Asha slapped him hard across the face.

Sele remained silent, staring at her in surprise.

Asha’s eyes filled with pain and anger.

“My mother once warned me,” she said bitterly, “when a man helps you, he always wants something in return.”

Sele tried to explain himself, but Asha did not give him a chance.

“At first, I thought you were a good man… but you’re just like the rest of them. Stay away from my life.”

Asha threw the shirt against his chest and walked away quickly.

Sele remained standing there, touching the cheek she had slapped.

After a few seconds, he slowly smiled to himself.

“This is the first time a woman has ever slapped me,” he said with a small laugh. “But strangely… I like her even more now.”

Meanwhile at school, Lela was sitting with her two friends, Zuu and Tima.

The girls were showing off their expensive phones, fashionable shoes, and beautiful clothes.

Lela looked at them with envy.

“I wish my life was like yours,” she said sadly. “Where do you get all this money?”

Zuu smiled mysteriously.

“Don’t worry, girl. Once exams are over, we’ll take you somewhere. You’ll make a lot of money.”

Lela looked surprised.

“Really?”

“Yes,” Zuu replied while looking her up and down carefully. “Your body is a valuable asset. If you use it well, your life will change very fast.”

Lela became excited without fully understanding what her friends truly meant.

On the other side of town, Asha was at her small vegetable stall arranging tomatoes and greens for customers.

Suddenly, John arrived with his friends.

Without warning, they started throwing her tomatoes onto the ground and destroying her business.

“Stop!” Asha cried painfully. “What do you want from my life?”

John walked toward her angrily.

“I told you I love you. Why can’t you understand?”

“I don’t love you, John!” Asha shouted while tears formed in her eyes. “Please leave me alone!”

But John grabbed her by the neck in front of everyone.

“When I want something, I get it,” he growled. “Today nobody is going to save you.”

The people around were too afraid to interfere.

John tried forcing Asha to kiss him, but she struggled desperately against him.

Suddenly, the sound of a police car filled the street.

John quickly released her.

Police officers stepped out together with Sele.

“That’s the guy I told you about,” Sele said angrily. “He already tried to assault this girl before, and now he’s destroying her business.”

John stared at Sele with burning hatred before the police arrested him and pushed him into the car.

Asha stood there staring at Sele in shock.

This is the second time he has saved me… she thought silently. But what does he really want from me?

Sele said nothing.

He simply bent down and started helping her pick up the scattered tomatoes from the ground.

After finishing, he stood up and quietly walked away.

Asha wanted to call him back… but she could not.

After finishing their exams, Zuu and her friends took Lela to a luxurious place in town later that night.

The moment Lela entered, her eyes widened in shock.

Beautiful women wearing revealing expensive clothes filled the place while loud music played everywhere. Rich men walked around confidently, laughing and drinking.

“Why are we here?” Lela asked nervously.

Zuu held her hand and smiled.

“This is where real money is made. If you want a better life, you must learn how to use your beauty.”

Lela immediately became frightened.

“No… I can’t sell my body! If my sister finds out, she’ll kill me!”

Without waiting another second, she turned and ran away from the place.

The night had already grown dark.

Lela ran through the streets while tears rolled down her cheeks.

“Sister will hate me… I’m so late…”

Because of fear and panic, she suddenly tripped and fell hard onto the road.

Sharp pain shot through her leg.

Bright headlights suddenly illuminated her body.

A car stopped in front of her.

The door quickly opened.

Sele stepped out in a hurry.

“Hey! Are you okay?” he asked while helping her up.

Lela trembled nervously.

“I live nearby…” she lied quietly.

But Sele noticed the injury on her leg.

“You’re badly hurt. Come, let me take you to the hospital.”

“I can’t walk…” Lela whispered painfully.

Without hesitation, Sele lifted her into his arms and carried her toward the car.

For the first time in her life, Lela felt a strange emotion growing inside her heart.

At the same time, back home—

Asha was pacing back and forth in deep worry.

“Where is Lela at this hour?” she whispered while tears slowly filled her eyes.
