Episode 3

Early in the morning, the carriage arrived. Vohn picks up the light bag and hands it to her father. She takes the scarf out of her pocket and put gently around her father's neck.

"Papa, I made this scarf for you during my embroidery lesson," she said. "Wear it always on your neck, to keep yourself warm." She hugged her father tightly, her tears flowed down her cheeks, and sniffs. His father was touched by how caring she is. He kissed her on her forehead and gave her a smile.

"I'm gonna miss you so much, papa", she cried.

"And also Papa", he replied and wiped her tears.

"Will you come back early? Won't you take long? I want to be with you, Papa", she cried again. "I will go with you, so that I can always be with you... Can I?"

"(sigh) I wanted to, but it is a very harsh and long journey for you, my dear. I can't let you come with me. You have to stay here and study", he said. "But don't worry, Vohn, we have a promise that we made. Right?" He caresses her head.

The coachman approaches, "My lord, the carriage is ready, and the luggage is all set in. We can go now, my lord."

"Okay, I will be there", he replied to the coachman, and stood up."My dear, I have to go now, you must take good care of yourself and the house. Do not worry, I will keep writing you letters, ok?"

Vohn grabs his hand, "Papa, don't stay so long in there and come back immediately", she said sadly and worriedly. "Please take good care of yourself, papa!"

Such a sweet, and a bright little girl. He is really touch of how proud he is to have such a caring daughter. "How really lucky I am to have a daughter like you", he said in his thought. She's just about to be six years old, but she acts so intellegent, she really got it after her mother.

"Yes, of course, I won't take long in there, don't worry", he said. "Well, can I go now, mademoiselle?" he kissed her forehead and smiled. Vohn kisses his father cheek. He picks up his bag and step in the carriage, he turn around and wave his hand saying goodbye.

"Goodbye Vohn, see you", he said waving his hand as the carriage starts running. "I will promise, I will bring something for you when I come back home. Take care of yourself, Vohn!" he shouted.

"You too papa, take care and be safe!", she shouted back and wave her hand.

"Yes, I will Vohn", he shouted. "I love you my precious daughter!"

"I love you too more, papa!", she shouted and wave her hand again. "Be safe!"

Vohn didn't stop waving and didn't go inside until the carriage has gone from her sights. Her tears flow down slowly on her cheeks and she sobs. The maid approach towards her and escorts her inside. At her bedroom, she sits on her bed and cries. Her nanny looks at her and feels sorry for her, she approach to Vohn and comforts her. She hugs her and pats gently her shoulder then, starts singing a lullaby.

"What song is that, Nanny?" she asked.

"It's a song that makes you feel better, milady", she said gently. "A song to make the sadness go away."

"Really?" she said. It was actually taught by her mother when she was pregnant with Vohn. She sang it everytime when she felt pain and uncomfortable. But the Nanny never intended to talk about it as she never want her little lady to be felt more sorrowful and lonely. So she brings it up.

"Yes, milady." the maid replied.

"Will you sing it for me every night when I go to sleep?", she said with tears.

"Of course, milady. From now on I will sing this lullaby for you, milady", she said and caress her head. She continued singing the song and Vohn feels relief.

Until Vohn falls asleep, the Nanny carry her and let her lay properly to the bed.

Late in the afternoon, Vohn woke up, she didn't realize that she slept so tight. She jumps to the bed and grabs her night robe and go down stairs. She smells something nice and delicious.
