The Lost Soul (Chapter-4)
Chapter Four
The Shape of Grief
People say heartbreak heals.
They lie.
Grief does not heal.
It changes shape.
Elias stopped drawing after Seraphine disappeared.
He stopped sleeping properly.
Stopped speaking unless necessary.
The city became unbearable because every corner carried her ghost.
The cherry blossom tree remained dead.
Years passed.
Yet every spring, Elias returned there.
Waiting.
Hoping.
Breaking.
Again and again.
Until one evening, an old woman approached him beneath the tree.
“You’re still waiting?”
Elias nodded quietly.
“She promised she’d come back.”
The woman looked toward the sky.
“Some promises belong to eternity, not time.”
Then she walked away before he could ask what she meant.
That night, for the first time in years, the tree bloomed.
Soft pink petals drifted through the dark air like fragments of forgotten dreams.
And standing beneath the blossoms—
was Seraphine.
Exactly as he remembered her.
Untouched by time.
Untouched by age.
Elias froze.
His voice shattered into a whisper.
“…Seraphine?”
She smiled gently.
“You found me.”
Chapter Five
Eternal
“Are you real?”
The question escaped him like prayer.
Seraphine stepped closer.
“I don’t know anymore.”
The petals swirled around them in silence.
Elias reached toward her carefully, afraid she might disappear.
But when his fingers touched hers—
warmth.
Real warmth.
His eyes filled instantly.
“I thought I lost you.”
“You did.”
Her voice trembled.
“But love kept calling me back.”
The world around them felt distant.
Like reality itself had softened.
Seraphine looked at him sadly.
“There’s something you must understand, Elias.”
“What?”
“I cannot stay forever.”
Pain struck him immediately.
“No.”
“You belong to life,” she whispered. “And I belong somewhere beyond it.”
He held her hand tighter.
“Then I’ll go with you.”
“No.”
Tears gathered in her eyes now.
“To love someone eternally does not mean dying for them.”
She touched his chest softly.
“It means carrying them even after they’re gone.”
Elias broke completely then.
Years of loneliness, grief, longing — all collapsing inside him at once.
And Seraphine kissed him beneath the blooming tree while the night trembled around them.
It felt endless.
Like two lost souls finally remembering they once belonged to each other.
