Different side

Chapter 3: Different side

He released me.

I stared at him for a moment, then laughed, smirking as I looked at him. “Hmm… I’ve never seen this side of you before,” I murmured.

I grabbed his hand, bringing it to my throat, and leaned close. “I like it,” I whispered into his ear.

Then I let go, letting him pull his hand back.

“Sorry… I didn’t mean to hurt you,” he said, his voice deep but carrying a quiet innocence. His eyes reflected it too—soft, calm, almost unassuming, as if he hadn’t intended any harm at all.

For a moment, I felt a flicker of guilt for what I’d done. I watched him walk away, and something about the way he carried himself stayed with me.

Class ended, and the students filed out. I looked around, hoping to catch sight of him, but King was gone.

I started heading home.

Up ahead, a commotion made my stomach drop. A group of boys were surrounding someone, hitting him.

It was King.

My vision flared red. Without thinking, I grabbed an iron rod lying nearby and swung it at them. “Leave him alone!” I yelled.

The boys scattered immediately, startled.

I ran to him. He was hurt, seriously injured, yet still… somehow, still had that composed, calm air that made him look untouchable.

“Why didn’t you defend yourself?” I demanded, voice trembling with frustration and fear.

He didn’t answer. He simply stood, brushing off the dust, and started walking.

As he walked away, a faint smile formed on his lips—quiet, subtle, unnoticed by anyone, didn't know it then, but King was about to change everything.

The evening felt strangely quiet as I continued my journey home alone.

To be continued.....
