Episode 4 – The Third Fragment
Outside the temple, the rain had finally stopped, but the silence it left behind was heavier than the storm itself. The air still carried a strange coldness—like death had just passed through and was refusing to leave completely.
Arav and Ananya stood at the main gate of the ancient temple. Water droplets slid down the stone pillars, and the blue crystal in Arav’s palm pulsed faintly… slowly heating up, as if something inside it had awakened after centuries of sleep.
Ananya looked exhausted. Her body still carried the pain of the earlier battle, and her face was pale, but her eyes… her eyes were unchanged. The same determination that had existed through lifetimes, deaths, betrayals, and wars.
Arav turned toward her.
“Are you okay? That pain… is it still there?”
Ananya remained silent for a moment, as if listening to something deep inside her.
Then she shook her head slowly.
“The pain never truly leaves, Arav… it just changes form. But now, it doesn’t matter. The third fragment is waiting for us.”
Arav tightened his grip on the crystal.
“Where is it?”
Ananya turned and pointed toward the dense forest behind the temple.
“Near the lake. The locals call it the Dead Lake.”
Arav frowned.
“Dead Lake?”
Ananya nodded.
“Yes. That’s where I died the third time.”
Her voice dropped slightly.
“A warrior betrayed me there. He wanted the secret of the treasure. He pushed me into the lake… and I never came back the same.”
A heavy silence followed.
Arav swallowed hard.
“So we go there… and find the fragment?”
Ananya nodded.
“But only at night. In the day it looks normal. At night… it reveals its true nature.”
Before Arav could respond, a deep, furious voice echoed through the temple courtyard.
“ARAV! ANANYA!”
The voice was sharp, commanding… filled with rage.
“I know you’re inside! Come out… or I will burn this entire temple to the ground!”
Arav’s body stiffened.
Rudra Pratap.
He was close.
Too close.
Arav grabbed Ananya’s hand immediately.
“We don’t have time. We need to leave NOW.”
Ananya didn’t argue.
“There is a hidden passage behind the temple,” she said quickly.
They ran through the narrow corridors of the temple. The shouting outside grew louder. Footsteps. Weapons. Men searching.
Ananya reached a broken stone wall at the back. She pressed her palm against it.
At first, nothing happened.
Then suddenly, the stone shifted with a deep grinding sound.
A hidden tunnel opened.
Dark. Narrow. Ancient.
Arav looked at it once.
“If this is a trap—”
“It isn’t,” Ananya interrupted. “It’s survival.”
Without waiting, they entered.
The tunnel was cold and suffocating. Their footsteps echoed endlessly. Behind them, Rudra’s men shouted as they searched the temple, but the tunnel slowly swallowed all sound.
Arav whispered,
“He will find us.”
Ananya replied calmly,
“He will try. But we will reach the lake first.”
After what felt like hours, the tunnel finally opened.
A cold wind rushed in.
And before them—lay the Dead Lake.
It was enormous, still, and unnaturally dark. Even under the moonlight, the water looked black… as if it had no reflection of the sky above it.
Arav stepped forward cautiously.
“This… feels wrong.”
Ananya nodded.
“It should. This is where everything began to break.”
She walked closer to the water.
“The third fragment is beneath this lake.”
Arav looked at her in disbelief.
“Beneath it? How are we supposed to go down there?”
Ananya slowly took out her locket.
The blue stone inside it flickered.
As soon as she held it up, something impossible happened.
The lake water began to move… not naturally, but as if responding to her presence. The surface parted slowly in the middle, forming a narrow pathway leading downward.
Arav stared.
“This… is not normal.”
Ananya looked at him.
“Nothing about us is normal anymore.”
She stepped forward.
“Come.”
Together, they walked into the lake.
The water was freezing cold, but strangely, they were not sinking. Instead, the lake itself seemed to be pulling them downward… guiding them toward something hidden deep beneath the surface.
Soon, they reached something impossible.
A chamber.
Hidden beneath the lake.
It was not filled with water—but with air.
Ancient stone walls surrounded them. Blue markings glowed faintly across the floor like veins of light. In the center stood a stone pedestal.
And on it—
The third blue fragment.
It pulsed slowly… like a heartbeat.
Arav approached it carefully.
The moment his fingers touched it—
A violent surge of pain exploded through his mind.
Images flashed instantly.
Ananya screaming.
A warrior pushing her into the lake.
Water swallowing her.
Her hand reaching out.
Then darkness.
Arav stumbled back, gasping.
His hand trembled violently.
Ananya rushed to him.
“It’s okay… you saw it again.”
Arav looked up, shaken.
“This wasn’t just death… it was betrayal.”
Ananya closed her eyes.
“Yes. That is what the third fragment holds. Now… the third trial begins.”
The chamber suddenly darkened.
The blue glow faded.
A thick black mist spread through the air.
And then—
A voice echoed.
Slow. Deep. Familiar.
“Finally…”
Rudra Pratap emerged.
But this time, he was different.
Behind him stood shadow-like figures—distorted forms of warriors, kings, and souls consumed by greed.
Rudra smiled.
“The game begins now.”
He raised his black locket.
Instantly, the chamber shattered into darkness.
Arav felt Ananya’s hand slip away.
“Ananya!” he shouted.
But she was gone.
He was alone.
A long, endless path appeared before him.
Darkness on all sides.
But far ahead… a blue light.
He ran.
As he moved forward, the world around him began changing.
He saw himself as a child—lonely.
He saw his father dying.
He saw himself abandoned by everyone he trusted.
Then—
Ananya.
Dead.
Floating in the lake.
“No!!!” Arav screamed.
He ran faster.
The light grew stronger.
And suddenly—
He stopped.
Ananya stood there.
Injured.
Bleeding.
Weak.
“Arav…” she whispered. “Save me…”
Arav rushed forward and held her.
“I will never lose you. Not again.”
Her body was cold… fading.
Rudra’s voice echoed everywhere.
“You cannot save her. Death always wins.”
Arav tightened his grip.
“No! Not this time!”
A sudden burst of blue light erupted from his chest.
The entire illusion cracked.
Ananya opened her eyes.
Color returned to her face.
She smiled softly.
“You… stopped it.”
The darkness shattered.
They were back in the chamber.
Together again.
Rudra stepped back for the first time.
Fear flickered in his eyes.
“How…?”
Arav stood firmly.
“Because we are not afraid anymore.”
The third fragment lifted into the air… and merged into Arav’s hand.
Ananya looked at Rudra.
“True love doesn’t fight death… it rewrites it.”
Rudra’s expression twisted.
“This is not over!”
Darkness exploded.
He disappeared.
The chamber began collapsing.
“Run!” Ananya shouted.
They escaped upward, breaking through the lake’s surface and emerging into the forest.
Rain had started again.
Cold.
Heavy.
But alive.
Arav looked at the fragments glowing in his hand.
“This isn’t over… is it?”
Ananya shook her head.
“No. We are only halfway.”
Suddenly she stopped.
“Wait.”
Ahead of them, a small glowing pit appeared.
Inside it—
A fragment.
But different.
Stronger.
More unstable.
“This is the fourth,” Ananya whispered.
Arav stared.
“How is it already here?”
Before she could answer—
Rudra’s voice echoed again.
“Very good…”
“Now the real game begins.”
Arav grabbed Ananya’s hand instantly.
“Run!”
They sprinted through the dark forest as rain intensified.
Branches cracked.
Thunder roared.
And behind them… darkness followed.
They reached a cave and rushed inside.
Breathing heavily.
Soaked.
Exhausted.
Arav looked at Ananya.
“Now what?”
Ananya tightened her grip on his hand.
“We wait.”
“Because Rudra will come.”
“But this time… we will be ready.”
Outside the cave, footsteps echoed.
A dark voice followed.
“I found you…”
Arav and Ananya looked at each other.
No escape left.
Only fight.
And the fourth fragment… waiting to reveal its truth.
