The Night My Name Vanished

The rain had finally stopped, but the night still felt strangely silent.

Lyra stood alone on the balcony of her old house, watching thousands of stars shimmer across the dark sky. Since childhood, she had always believed the stars were alive. Every wish, every memory, every name... they all belonged to them.

People laughed whenever she said that.

But tonight was different.

The man smiled politely.

Her heart sank.

How could an entire city forget a single person overnight?

A faint trail of shimmering light appeared on the road ahead, leading toward the ancient clock tower in the center of the city.

The streets became quieter with every step.

On the twelfth chime, time itself seemed to stop.

The birds froze in the sky.

The falling leaves remained suspended in the air.

Even the fountain beside the tower stopped flowing.

Only Lyra could still move.

A voice came from behind her.

"So... you can still hear the clock."

She turned around.

A boy stood beneath the moonlight, dressed in a long black coat. His silver eyes reflected the stars, yet something felt impossible about him.

He had no shadow.

For a few seconds, neither of them spoke.

Then the boy smiled very slightly.

"You're Lyra... aren't you?"

Lyra's eyes widened.

"You... know my name?"

"I remember everyone the sky forgets."

Before she could ask another question, the silver key in her hand burst into light, and the ancient clock tower slowly opened like a giant door.

Beyond it was not another street...

It was a sky filled with floating islands, glowing rivers of starlight, and a castle hanging among the clouds.

Lyra took one slow step forward.

She had no idea that crossing this doorway would change not only her life... but the fate of every forgotten soul.
