A New Beginning

“Bomi!”

Hae's loud voice echoed through the room.

Bomi, who had been lying comfortably on the sofa, slowly lifted her head.

“What?” she mumbled sleepily.

Hae walked toward her and crossed her arms.

“Have you got a job yet?”

Bomi immediately pulled the cushion over her face.

“Nooo…”

Hae sighed.

“Bomi!”

“What?” Bomi replied from underneath the cushion.

“I'm asking if you got a job!”

Bomi slowly removed the cushion and looked at her with a sad face.

“Not yet…”

Her voice was so pitiful that Hae couldn't help but feel sorry for her.

“Hey, don't feel bad,” Hae said, sitting beside her. “I might actually have something for you.”

Bomi's eyes immediately widened.

“Really?!”

Hae nodded proudly.

“There is a PA position available at my office. Would you like to try?”

Bomi sat up straight.

“PA?”

“Yes.”

Bomi's face suddenly lit up.

“I'll do it!”

Hae blinked.

“Wait, I haven't even told you the job details yet!”

“I don't care!” Bomi said confidently. “I'll do any work. No problem!”

Hae stared at her.

“Are you sure?”

Bomi nodded enthusiastically.

“Of course! I'll work hard. I'll be the best PA ever!”

Hae raised an eyebrow.

“That's what everyone says before their first day.”

“Hey!” Bomi protested. “I can work hard!”

Hae laughed.

“Okay, okay. It's done then. Tomorrow, get ready early and come with me.”

Bomi's face suddenly became serious.

“Wait… Early?”

“Yes. Early.”

“How early?”

Hae thought for a moment.

“Very early.”

Bomi's smile disappeared.

“How early is very early?”

“Just wake up before the sun.”

Bomi stared at her in horror.

“Before the sun?! Hae! Are you trying to kill me?!”

Hae burst out laughing.

“Stop being dramatic! Just get ready and come with me tomorrow. Deal?”

Bomi finally sighed.

“Fine. Deal.”

Then her face brightened again.

“Thank you so much, Kitty!”

Hae's smile vanished instantly.

“Don't call me that!”

Bomi froze.

“Why?”

“Because I don't like it!”

Bomi tilted her head innocently.

“But it's cute.”

“No.”

“Kitty?”

“No!”

“Kitty Kitty?”

“Bomi!”

Bomi immediately covered her mouth.

“Okay, okay! I won't call you that anymore.”

Hae narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

“You promise?”

Bomi nodded seriously.

“I promise.”

There was a short silence.

Then Hae suddenly called her.

“Bomi.”

Bomi looked at her.

“Yes?”

Hae pointed toward the kitchen.

“Go cook.”

Bomi's mouth fell open.

“What?!”

“I'm hungry.”

Bomi stared at her best friend as if Hae had just committed the greatest betrayal in history.

“Excuse me? Why should I cook?”

“Because I'm hungry.”

“That doesn't make any sense!”

Hae shrugged.

“It makes perfect sense to me.”

Bomi crossed her arms.

“No! Today is your turn. You go and cook.”

Hae immediately changed her expression.

She put on the sweetest face she could manage.

“Boooomi…”

“No.”

“Baby…”

“No!”

“Please…”

“Still no!”

Hae grabbed Bomi's hand and shook it gently.

“Baby, please cook for me.”

Bomi tried her best to stay angry, but Hae's ridiculous pleading face made it impossible.

She finally let out a huge sigh.

“Fine! Fine! I'll cook.”

Hae immediately jumped up happily.

“Yay!”

“But!” Bomi pointed a warning finger at her. “This is the last time! Tomorrow, you are cooking!”

Hae nodded enthusiastically.

“Yes! Tomorrow, me done!”

Bomi stared at her.

“Your grammar is terrible.”

“Who cares? I'm getting food!”

Bomi rolled her eyes and headed toward the kitchen.

“You're impossible!”

Hae followed behind her with a huge smile.

“And you're the best!”

Bomi stopped and looked back.

“Really?”

Hae immediately smiled innocently.

“Yes.”

Bomi smiled.

Then Hae added—

“Especially when you cook for me.”

Bomi's smile disappeared.

“HAE!”

Hae ran away laughing.

“I'm hungry!”

Bomi grabbed a cushion and threw it at her.

“You're cooking tomorrow! I swear!”

Hae's laughter filled the room.

Neither of them knew that tomorrow would bring something far more important than a new job.

For Bomi, it was simply the beginning of her first day as a PA.

But sometimes, life changes when you least expect it.

And tomorrow…

Bomi was about to walk into Chin.
