The next morning, at Chul's luxurious penthouse in Seoul…
“Chul!”
Nari's voice echoed through the spacious living room.
“Where are you?”
Chul, who was sitting in the hall, looked up.
“I'm here, darling.”
Nari quickly walked toward him.
“Oh, you're here! I've been searching for you everywhere.”
Chul raised an eyebrow.
“Searching for me? Why?”
Nari didn't answer immediately. Instead, she pulled out her phone and casually looked at the screen.
“My credit card bill just arrived.”
Chul stared at her.
“And?”
“You need to make sure you pay it.”
Chul's eyes widened slightly.
“Wait… what?”
But Nari was already turning around.
“That's all. I'm leaving. Bye, honey.”
Before he could say anything, she leaned forward and quickly kissed his cheek.
“Mwah!”
Then she started walking away.
“Nari… wait a minute.”
Chul quickly stood up and caught her hand.
Nari turned around, clearly annoyed.
“What, Chul?”
“I want to talk to you.”
“I can't. I have a shooting today, and I'm already late.”
Chul's expression changed.
“It's always the same.”
Nari frowned.
“What?”
“Shooting. Shooting. Shooting.”
His voice was filled with frustration.
“For the past three years, have you ever stopped for a moment and thought about me?”
Nari stared at him.
For a brief second, there was silence between them.
Then she slowly pulled her hand away from his.
“I have.”
Chul looked at her hopefully.
“You have?”
Nari gave him a blank look.
“So what?”
Chul's hopeful expression immediately disappeared.
“Nari…”
She sighed impatiently.
“Please don't spoil my mood first thing in the morning. I have to go.”
She turned around again.
“Bye.”
Chul stood there, completely stunned.
“Wait—what?!”
Nari kept walking.
“I'm talking to you!”
But Nari didn't stop.
“I'm seriously talking to you, Nari! And you're just saying bye, bye?!”
The next second—
BANG!
The penthouse door slammed shut.
Chul stood frozen in the middle of the room.
He slowly turned his head toward the door.
She was gone.
His face darkened.
“Shitt!”
He ran a frustrated hand through his hair.
“Three years…”
He muttered to himself.
“Three years of marriage, and this is how she treats me?”
He dropped onto the sofa with a heavy sigh.
But before he could sink any deeper into his thoughts—
Ding-dong!
The doorbell rang.
Chul immediately looked up.
“Nari?”
His eyes suddenly brightened.
Maybe she had come back.
Maybe she had finally realized that she had hurt him.
Maybe—
He quickly stood up and rushed toward the door.
With a hopeful smile, he opened it.
But the smile disappeared instantly.
Standing outside was not Nari.
It was In Su.
Chul stared at him.
In Su stared back.
A long, awkward silence followed.
Chul's face fell.
“In Su…”
In Su raised an eyebrow.
“What?”
Chul sighed.
“Come in.”
In Su looked at his watch.
“Come in? Seriously?”
Chul frowned.
“What?”
“Do you even know what time it is?”
Chul glanced at the clock.
His eyes widened.
“Oh my God!”
It was already 7:30 a.m.
Chul immediately grabbed his things.
“Come on! We have to go.”
In Su stared at him.
“Now you remember the time?”
Chul walked past him.
“Stop talking and come on!”
In Su shook his head and followed him inside.
“Honestly, Chul… one day you're going to forget your own name.”
Chul stopped walking.
He slowly turned around.
“Don't test me this morning.”
In Su immediately raised both hands.
“Okay, okay. I'm coming.”
And just like that, the two men hurried out of the penthouse…
Completely unaware that this morning would be the beginning of a day that would change all of their lives. ✨
...****************...
Meanwhile…
Hae and Bomi had just arrived at the office building when Hae suddenly stopped in her tracks.
“Oh my God!”
She slapped her hand against her forehead. 🤦♀️
Bomi immediately turned toward her.
“What happened, Kitty?”
Hae looked horrified.
“I forgot something!”
Bomi blinked.
“What?”
“The file! An important file! I left it in the car!”
Bomi stared at her for a second.
Then she sighed.
“That's all? I thought something terrible happened.”
Hae gave her an annoyed look.
“It is terrible! I need that file for work!”
Bomi rolled her eyes.
“Okay, okay. Don't panic. Give me the car key. I'll get it for you.”
Hae looked at her with relief.
“Really? Thank you, Tiny!”
She quickly handed Bomi the keys.
Bomi took them and immediately pointed a finger at her.
“Hey! Kitty, go!”
Hae raised an eyebrow.
“Excuse me?”
“Go! I'll get your precious file.”
Hae chuckled.
“Fine. But you know how to come back alone, right?”
Bomi's mouth fell open.
She placed a hand on her chest dramatically.
“I'm not a kid, Kitty! I know how to go home alone!”
“Okay, okay! Don't get angry.”
“Hmmph!”
Bomi turned around and walked toward the parking area, muttering under her breath.
“Treating me like a five-year-old…”
Hae watched her walk away with an amused smile.
“Tiny,” she called out.
Bomi turned around.
“What?!”
“Don't get lost!”
Bomi's eyes widened.
“HAE!”
Hae burst out laughing as Bomi angrily turned around and continued walking.
“Crazy girl,” Bomi muttered.
She soon reached the parking area.
Bomi quickly opened the car door and grabbed the important files from the back seat.
“There you are…”
She hugged the files to her chest, closed the door, and carefully locked the car.
“Okay, done!”
Feeling relieved, Bomi turned around and headed toward the elevator.
She was almost there when—
HONK!!!
A loud horn suddenly blared behind her.
Bomi froze.
“Huh?”
She slowly turned around.
Her eyes widened in horror.
A black Audi A8 was speeding straight toward her!
“Ahhh!”
The car came closer and closer.
Bomi's heart nearly stopped.
She instinctively squeezed her eyes shut tightly and stood frozen in fear.
SCREEEECH!
The car stopped.
Just a few inches away from her.
Bomi didn't move.
She kept her eyes tightly closed, terrified to even look.
Inside the car, In Su stared at the girl standing directly in front of him.
“Oh my God…”
He immediately got out of the car and hurried toward her.
“Miss?”
No response.
In Su frowned.
“Hello, miss?”
Still nothing.
He gently tapped her shoulder.
Bomi slowly opened her eyes.
She looked up and saw In Su standing in front of her.
For a second, she was completely confused.
Then she glanced at the car.
Her eyes widened again.
“Oh…”
In Su looked at her with concern.
“Are you okay?”
Bomi quickly nodded.
“Yeah! I'm fine. Sorry!”
Before In Su could say anything else, Bomi suddenly bowed deeply.
“I'm really sorry!”
She quickly picked up the files that had almost slipped from her hands and turned around.
“Wait—”
But it was too late.
Bomi ran toward the elevator as fast as she could.
In Su stood there, watching her disappear.
He blinked.
“...What just happened?”
The elevator doors closed before he could even react.
In Su continued staring at the closed doors for a moment.
Then—
“In Su!”
He heard Chul calling him from the car.
In Su turned around.
Chul was sitting impatiently in the driver's seat.
“Enough watching her! Come on! We're already late for the meeting!”
In Su glanced once more toward the elevator.
Then he sighed.
“Coming!”
He quickly got back into the car.
