Chapter 5 : The Girl From Aludra

"Please... tell me who you are."

Anfelisa waited for an answer.

The girl standing in front of her remained quiet for a moment.

Then, finally, she spoke.

"My name is Audenzia."

Anfelisa stared at her.

"Audenzia?"

The girl nodded.

"Yes."

Anfelisa still couldn't take her eyes off her.

She looked exactly like her.

It was difficult to believe that someone who looked so much like her could even exist.

"Where are you from?"

Audenzia looked at her for a moment before answering.

"Aludra."

Anfelisa frowned.

"Aludra?"

"It's the name of the star I come from."

Anfelisa looked confused.

"You mean... you're not from Earth?"

Audenzia shook her head.

"No."

"Then where is Aludra?"

"Very far from Earth."

Anfelisa didn't know what to say.

She looked around the strange forest and then back at Audenzia.

"So you're saying you're from another star?"

"Yes."

Anfelisa stared at her.

"How am I supposed to believe that?"

Audenzia gave a small smile.

"I know it sounds impossible."

"Because it is impossible."

"Maybe it is, from your point of view."

Anfelisa didn't know how to respond.

She wanted to ask more questions, but something suddenly caught her attention.

Audenzia was looking at her hand.

More specifically...

At the ring.

Anfelisa looked down.

The mysterious ring was still on her finger.

Audenzia's expression changed.

"That ring..."

Anfelisa looked at her.

"What about it?"

"Where did you get it?"

Anfelisa frowned.

"I found it in my clothes."

"Your clothes?"

"Yes. I don't know how it got there."

Audenzia slowly moved closer.

"Can you give it to me?"

Anfelisa looked at the ring.

"You said you came from Aludra. Is this ring yours?"

Audenzia nodded.

"Yes."

"Then why was it in my clothes?"

Audenzia didn't answer.

Anfelisa noticed the hesitation in her expression.

"You know how it got there, don't you?"

Audenzia looked away.

"Not exactly."

"Then what do you know?"

"I know that I need you to keep it safe."

Anfelisa looked confused.

"Why?"

"I'll come back for it."

"When?"

Audenzia looked at her.

"I don't know."

Anfelisa sighed.

"That's not very helpful."

"I know."

Anfelisa looked at the ring again.

"If it's yours, why don't you take it now?"

Audenzia remained silent for a moment.

"Because I can't."

"Why?"

"I just can't."

Anfelisa stared at her.

There were so many things she wanted to ask.

Who was Audenzia?

How had she come here?

Why did she look exactly like Anfelisa?

And why was this strange ring so important to her?

"You're not telling me everything."

Audenzia looked at her.

"You're right."

Anfelisa raised her eyebrows.

At least she was honest.

"Then tell me what you can."

Audenzia took a slow breath.

"I can't explain everything to you right now."

"Why not?"

"Because there are things you don't know yet."

Anfelisa didn't like that answer.

"Then when will you tell me?"

"When I come back."

Anfelisa looked at her suspiciously.

"You keep saying that."

"Because I mean it."

Audenzia glanced at the ring again.

"Until then, please keep it somewhere safe."

Anfelisa looked down at her hand.

"And what if I don't?"

Audenzia's expression became serious.

"Please, Anfelisa."

Something about the way she said her name made Anfelisa pause.

It was strange.

Audenzia spoke as though she had known her for a very long time.

Anfelisa looked at her carefully.

"How do you know my name?"

Audenzia didn't answer immediately.

Anfelisa's eyes narrowed.

"You know me, don't you?"

Audenzia looked at her.

"I know more about you than you think."

Anfelisa's heart skipped.

"What does that mean?"

Before Audenzia could answer, the light beneath them suddenly flickered.

Anfelisa looked down.

The white glow inside the strange groove was becoming brighter.

"What is happening?"

Audenzia looked around.

"I have to go."

"Wait!"

Anfelisa quickly stepped toward her.

"You can't leave now!"

Audenzia stopped.

Anfelisa had too many questions.

"Why do you look like me?"

Audenzia said nothing.

"Why did you come here?"

Still no answer.

"And what is Aludra?"

Audenzia looked at her.

"I'll tell you everything one day."

"One day?"

"Yes."

"That's all you're going to say?"

Audenzia smiled faintly.

"For now."

The light around the groove grew brighter.

Anfelisa suddenly felt a strong wind around her.

She tried to move closer.

"Audenzia!"

Audenzia looked at her one last time.

"Keep the ring safe."

Anfelisa held the ring tightly.

"I will."

"And don't tell anyone about me."

Anfelisa hesitated.

"Why?"

Audenzia's expression changed.

"Just trust me."

Anfelisa didn't know whether she should.

But before she could ask anything else, Audenzia began to disappear into the bright light.

"Wait!"

Anfelisa reached toward her.

"Audenzia!"

Audenzia's voice became distant.

"I'll come back for the ring."

The light suddenly became brighter.

Then everything went dark.

Anfelisa suddenly opened her eyes.

She sat upright in her bed.

Her heart was beating fast.

For a few seconds, she didn't know where she was.

Then she looked around.

Her room.

Her bed.

Her window.

Everything was normal.

Anfelisa took a deep breath.

She slowly remembered the dream.

The forest.

The strange glowing groove.

The girl who looked exactly like her.

Audenzia.

Aludra.

The ring.

Anfelisa immediately looked toward the table.

The ring was still there.

She stared at it.

She slowly touched her finger.

There was no ring on it.

Anfelisa sat quietly for a moment.

"Was it really just a dream?"

She didn't know.

But it had felt so real.

She could still remember Audenzia's voice.

Keep the ring safe.

I'll come back for it.

Anfelisa reached for the ring and picked it up.

She turned it slowly between her fingers.

For the first time, she wondered if the strange dream had actually been a message.

Who was Audenzia?

What was Aludra?

Why did she look exactly like Anfelisa?

And most importantly...

Why had Audenzia given the ring to her?

Anfelisa had no answers.

She only knew one thing.

The ring was now in her hands.

And somewhere far away...

A girl named Audenzia was waiting for the day she could return.
