The small distance left between them collapsed completely.
Jungkook didn't rush. He lingered for a agonizing, beautiful second, giving Taehyung every chance to pull back. But Taehyung didn't move an inch. Instead, his fingers instinctively curled into the thick, soft fabric of Jungkook's green sweater, tugging him closer.
When Jungkook’s lips finally met his, a soft, involuntary gasp slipped from Taehyung’s throat.
It wasn't a tentative first kiss. It was deep, possessive, and warm, bursting with three years of unspoken longings, late-night phone calls, quiet lingering glances, and suppressed jealousy. Jungkook’s mouth moved against his with a gentle, intoxicating rhythm, his lips velvet-soft and tasting faintly of the sweet hazelnut syrup from his coffee earlier.
Jungkook shifted closer, his broad frame pressing Taehyung snugly against the kitchen counter. One of his large, warm hands slid up from Taehyung’s waist, trailing along his spine before nestling into the soft locks at the nape of Taehyung’s neck. His fingers tangled there, holding him steady as he tilted Taehyung’s head to deepen the kiss.
Taehyung felt like he was floating. The ground beneath his feet seemed to dissolve, leaving only the sensation of Jungkook’s solid warmth, the quiet rustle of their clothes, and the heavy, quickening rhythm of their breathing.
When they finally broke apart for air, neither of them moved away.
Jungkook rested his forehead against Taehyung’s, his breath coming in short, uneven puffs against Taehyung’s flushed skin. His dark eyes fluttered open, dark and glazed with an intense, unadulterated affection that made Taehyung’s chest ache with sweetness.
"Tae..." Jungkook breathed out, a shy, breathless laugh escaping his lips. "I... wow. I've thought about doing that for so long."
Taehyung’s boxy smile broke through, radiance washing over his face despite the deep blush painted across his cheeks and ears. He reached up, his long fingers gently smoothing down the messy dark strands of Jungkook’s hair.
"You talk too much, Kook-ah," Taehyung teased softly, his voice dropping into a tender, rumbling hum.
"Hey! I just confessed my deep, undying love and gave you a cinematic kiss," Jungkook pouted playfully, though his eyes were sparkling with sheer joy. "Show some respect to the male lead."
"The male lead?" Taehyung raised an eyebrow, his fingers tracing down the line of Jungkook’s jaw, feeling the slight stubble prickling his skin. "I thought I was the male lead."
"We can share the title," Jungkook murmured, leaning down to press a swift, affectionate kiss onto the tip of Taehyung’s nose, then to his cheek, and finally to the corner of his lips. "As long as I get to be the one who holds you like this."
Taehyung chuckled, a rich, melodic sound that warmed the quiet apartment. He slid his arms around Jungkook’s neck, pulling the younger boy into a deep, soul-soothing hug. He buried his face in the crook of Jungkook’s neck, inhaling the intoxicating, comforting scent of cedar and rain.
Jungkook’s arms wrapped tightly around Taehyung’s waist, lifting him slightly off the floor and settling him back down gently. They swayed together in the middle of the kitchen, bathed in the warm, ambient light of the living room lamps.
"Stay tonight," Taehyung murmured against Jungkook’s skin, his lips brushing the shell of his ear. "Don't go back to the dorm in the rain."
Jungkook tightened his hold, resting his chin on Taehyung’s shoulder. "I wasn't planning on leaving anyway. You're stuck with me now, Kim Taehyung."
"Good," Taehyung whispered softly, closing his eyes as a profound sense of peace washed over him. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
