Episode 4 — The Villain Who Was Actually a Friend

The next morning, Nina was sitting alone in a small café.

She was staring at the magical stone in her hand.

It had been glowing all night.

Something was changing.

And Nina was scared.

“Are you planning to stare at that thing until it starts talking?”

Nina immediately closed her hand.

She knew that voice.

She sighed.

“Not you again.”

A girl dropped into the chair opposite her.

She had a playful smile on her face and a cup of coffee in her hand.

“Good morning to you too, Nina.”

Nina looked at her.

“You're annoying.”

“And you're rude.”

“You're also late.”

The girl looked at the clock.

“I'm three minutes late.”

“Three minutes is still late.”

She rolled her eyes.

“Okay, Miss Fairy Princess.”

Nina immediately looked around.

“Don't say that!”

The girl laughed.

“Relax. Nobody heard me.”

Nina leaned closer.

“Lina, you know you're the biggest villain I've ever met?”

Lina smiled proudly.

“Finally! I've earned the title.”

Nina shook her head.

“You're impossible.”

Lina was Nina's closest friend in the human world.

She was the first person Nina had met after arriving there.

At first, Nina didn't trust her.

But Lina had somehow stayed beside her.

She helped Nina understand the human world.

She taught her how to use a phone.

She showed her how humans travelled around the city.

And most importantly...

She never asked Nina why she was always looking for someone.

Lina knew Nina was hiding something.

But she waited for Nina to tell her herself.

“Now,” Lina said, “tell me what's wrong.”

“Nothing.”

Lina stared at her.

“Nina.”

“I'm fine.”

“Nina.”

“I'm perfectly fine.”

Lina leaned closer.

“Your face says you're definitely not fine.”

Nina sighed.

“Pari is in danger.”

Lina's expression immediately changed.

“Your sister?”

Nina nodded.

“Those people found her.”

“Who?”

“The dark forces.”

Lina looked at her.

For once, she didn't joke.

“Then we need to protect her.”

Nina looked surprised.

“You believe me?”

Lina shrugged.

“You've told me enough strange things that I've stopped questioning you.”

Nina smiled.

“You're still a villain.”

“Thank you.”

“That wasn't a compliment.”

“I accepted it as one.”

Nina laughed softly.

For the first time in days, she felt a little lighter.

But the moment didn't last long.

The magical stone in her hand suddenly started glowing.

Nina's smile disappeared.

“Pari.”

Lina looked at the stone.

“Is that bad?”

“Very bad.”

Nina stood up.

“Let's go.”

“Where?”

“To Pari.”

Lina immediately stood.

“Okay.”

Nina looked at her.

“You're coming?”

Lina raised an eyebrow.

“Did you think I'd let you go alone?”

“You're human.”

“And you're apparently a fairy.”

Nina stared at her.

Lina smiled.

“So I guess we're both dealing with strange things.”

Meanwhile, Pari was sitting near a lake.

She had been trying to understand her magic.

She raised her hand.

Nothing happened.

She tried again.

Nothing.

Pari sighed.

“Why does it only work when I don't want it to?”

Suddenly, a tiny blue butterfly appeared above her hand.

Pari smiled.

“Hello.”

The butterfly landed on her finger.

For some reason, looking at it made her happy.

Then she heard footsteps.

Pari turned around.

It was a young man.

He stopped when he saw the glowing butterfly.

His eyes widened.

Pari quickly closed her hand.

The butterfly disappeared.

“Did you just...”

“No.”

He stared at her.

“I didn't even finish my question.”

“You were going to ask something.”

He smiled.

“Okay. Fair enough.”

Pari turned away.

“Do I know you?”

“No.”

“Then why are you staring at me?”

“Because you're strange.”

Pari looked offended.

“I'm not strange.”

He smiled.

“You're sitting beside a lake talking to a butterfly.”

Pari became silent.

He laughed.

“Okay. Maybe that sounded rude.”

Pari rolled her eyes.

“Very.”

“My name is Arin.”

Pari looked at him.

“Pari.”

“I know.”

Pari froze.

“How?”

Arin's expression changed.

“I heard someone call you that yesterday.”

Pari relaxed.

“Oh.”

But Arin wasn't telling the truth.

He had seen the blue light.

And he knew that Pari wasn't an ordinary girl.

At that moment, Nina and Lina arrived.

Nina immediately noticed Arin.

“Who is he?”

Pari looked at her.

“I don't know. He says his name is Arin.”

Lina looked at Arin.

Then at Pari.

Then at Nina.

“Oh.”

Nina narrowed her eyes.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“Lina.”

“I'm quiet.”

“You're never quiet.”

“True.”

Pari looked confused.

“Is she always like this?”

Nina sighed.

“Unfortunately.”

Lina put a hand over her heart.

“I'm hurt.”

Nina pointed toward her.

“Villain.”

Lina smiled.

“Princess.”

“Villain.”

“Fairy.”

Nina stared at her.

“Don't start.”

Pari couldn't help laughing.

For a moment, everything felt normal.

Like they were just four ordinary people beside a lake.

But then...

The wind stopped.

The blue butterfly disappeared.

Nina's face changed.

“Everyone, stay back.”

Arin immediately looked around.

“What happened?”

Nina whispered,

“They're here.”

Black smoke appeared between the trees.

Pari's wrist began to glow with the same dark mark.

She cried out.

“Nina!”

Nina rushed toward her.

“Pari!”

Lina stood beside Nina.

“What do we do?”

Nina looked at her.

“Stay close to me.”

Lina nodded.

“Okay.”

Nina looked at her friend.

For a second, she smiled.

“My villain.”

Lina smiled back.

“Your favorite villain.”

Then the black smoke moved toward them.

Nina raised her hand.

Pari's blue magic began glowing.

And beside them stood Lina...

A human girl who had no magic.

No fairy blood.

No special powers.

But she had one thing the dark forces didn't understand.

She would never leave Nina alone.
