Chapter 2: the meeting

today is the day I meet David, it's actually kind of weird to call him by his name but ' my soon to be husband' is kind of long too, so I'm sticking with this one for now.

it was a coffee date so I didn't need to wake up early, and since I wasn't that excited neither did I anticipate it I didn't need to think too hard about what I should wear to impress him just proper enough outfit that I would wear for any other first arranged meeting. my usual make up and let loose my shoulder length brown hair and I was good to go.

reaching our meeting place a waitress showed me the table, and just as I thought he wasn't there yet, I waited for about twenty minutes before I ordered some coffee for myself, I was in my second cup scrolling through my phone when he finally decided to show up.

"miss white. " he greeted as he stood in front of me, I looked up at him putting down my phone.

"Mr. Parker. " I acknowledged him making no attempt to stretch my hand for a handshake if he wasn't respectful to do it first, and no need to confirm he didn't, what a disappointment he's choosing the hard way with this and I hate it, and him as well.

"apparently you chose to show up fashionably late Mr. Parker, didn't know guys do this too, but what should I say nowadays everything is out of order. " I mocked him taking a sip of my coffee as he sat in front of me glaring for more than a minute which is making me quite uncomfortable, I hate when someone looks at me without a reason for too long.

"and you ordered without waiting for me too miss Abigail. "

"my bad, I thought you went pass that stage the first thirty minutes of me waiting here and you being late without a proper excuse nor at least an apology, right?"

"I'm not here to answer your sarcastic remarks miss Abiagail-"

"White. " I corrected him. people I hate don't get to call me by my name it gets on my nerves for some reason. it's the second time and it's already bothering me, I guess he should count his moves around me from now on or none of us will be at peace the next time we meet.

"so as I was about to say miss WHITE, I'm here to discuss our so called arranged marriage and I don't want to waste my time and play around the bush nor do I want this marriage too, and frankly put I want you to reject this marriage. " hearing that I couldn't help but let out a humorless chuckle.

"your honesty is appreciated really, and to be honest from my part too I have the same feelings as you towards this marriage, but no I'm not going to reject it. "

"why not if you really want to? look miss White, I have priorities in my life and I have a lot of things that I'm not ready to sacrifice for a marriage with a sarcastic arrogant woman like you " hearing that I again chuckled.

"you're quite the funny guy Mr. Parker, but my attitude towards you is just what you're showing me, I never give more than I get especially when it comes to this, and if you're that unwilling and really appreciate your 'dreams' then man up and don't hide behind me to do your business. " he slammed the table in anger glaring daggers at me but I wasn't intimidated as I kept my cold gaze meeting his furious one taking another sip of my coffee.

"I again will be the mature one here and ignore your sarcastic remarks, so... these are my family's orders and I have my own reasons to not be able to refuse one of them is not upsetting them. "

"well I can agree with that, you're not the only one with a family behind you, and I won't make the sacrifice for the sake of some strangers' satisfaction. "

"it's not only for my satisfaction, but also yours, we both hate this and we both have our own dreams. "

"we do yes, but this marriage is an unrelatable subject to them don't you think? "

"I don't want to loose my freedom just to be tied with a stranger especially if that stranger is a sarcastic childish woman. " I took a deep breath to keep my anger in check as I held both my hands together squeezing them to stop them from shaking further.

"you claimed to be the 'mature' one earlier but I guess I'll have to disagree with you now, a thirty years old man who's still chasing his 'freedom', insulting a woman he doesn't know and trying to make her shoulder the responsibility to cancel the marriage he doesn't want and be the only one to blame just for his and his family's satisfaction and without considering her opinion or the disadvantage she'd be at, I think that's quite the opposite don't you think? " his anger seemed to flare more but before he got to saya anything I cut him off.

"if you want to get out of this marriage then fo it on your own, I'm not responsible of realising your wishes. " with that I stood up and took out some money from my purse and put it on the table which made him look at me confused.

"you weren't polite enough to show up in time so I guess I should pay my bill too, right? " I dmirked at him mockingly popping up an eyebrow and I knew he felt insulted, but he desereved it, no one gets to mess with me.

and just like that I left him behind as I made my way out and took a cab to get home. I don't have a car since I'm quite the scardy cat and will never drive, and I didn't want to use my family's money further to get a driver, it's not like they suggested anyway.

I was in my apartment in less than half an hour, I live alone in some high class appartment, I love pampering myself yes, it's all my money though, after high school I finished my studies abroad and after two years experience I came back here and took a job that pays me quite well and enough to spoil myself.

since my family is rich and my dad has his own company he suggested for me to work there, but I was fed up already with them butting in in everything in my life, they even choe the profession for me at least I get to choose where to work right?

that too my family never had high expectations for me, and even when they did they themselves never believed I'd meet them, so if I work there I doubt I'd get where I am now. since I know I'll always be under pressure and never trusted enough, and that too I hate the fact that all of the people there know that he's my father so he'll put me under watch more. and frankly put I want a peaceful professional life at least.

reaching home I texted my best friend Anna to come by my house, she's my only friend more, she were my classmate for like four years before we actually clicked together and became best friends, and despite the huge differences between us and choosing different professions we still kept in touch, and even when I cut all mu connections with people she was one of the few that were left.

and today I need to keep her up with what happened to me recently and it's absolutely nothing that I can tell over the phone, this is some serious shit that needs a girls night for it, maybe a sleepover or maybe go out and change the mood. though I'm not a big fan of it, she is, and once she decides on something she gets it by hook or by Crook, and I don't prefer the second one.

once I refused her offer and she locked me up in the bathroom for three hours with a short red dress to get ready and it was until I was done and took a picture and sent it to her that she finally opened the door for me, so I agree everytime so that at least I get to choose my dress on my own, a proper one that is.

"helooo. " she yelled as she walked into my house, and yes she has the keys.

"I'm in the kitchen!! " I yelled back and she was there in no time, she knows it's something serious if I refused to tell her over the phone.

"I'm getting married " I blurted out before she can say anything making her choke on her own saliva, this will be a long night.
