Chapter 5: 'freedom'

after the party was over, we both left to 'our' house that apparently is a penthouse, not too surprising, thankfully the driver helped me with two bags of my luggage that were the last of my things left behind, and at this point I don't even know if it's really his job or he's just pitying me for having such a rude husband and is a gentleman enough to help me, either way I was grateful for it, I have absolutely no energy to carry them.

once we were in, he didn't even bother to tell me where my room was, and there was no maid considering that it was Kate at night, so I made sure to drag my luggage behind me making as much noise as possible, both to annoy him and because I couldn't really carry them properly.

"oh my god!! " I exclaimed as I stopped by his room I let them drop intentionally to cause a little more disturbance which gladly worked as it didn't take long for him to come out.

"what the hell is all this noise for in the middle of the night. " he almost yelled at me as I just glared down at my luggage on the floor as a response making him mutter something under his breath as he carried them for me and to my room.

"oh, thank you, you really didn't have to do that. " I said dramatically with a fake sweet smile on my face making him roll his eyes before leaving the room. by hook or by Crook he said, and that's what i'm doing, just meeting his expectations.

after doing my night routine I slept immediately like slot feeling all the physical and mental tiredness like a truck that just went over me. and not so surprisingly I woke up late the next day, so after washing up I headed to the kitchen to find something to eat.

disappointed that I found nothing to my taste I took an apple then headed back to my room, as I was walking and humming to myself I almost choked on the bite I took seeing a disheveled shadow leaving his room making me scream which made her scream surprised as well.

oh wait, she, taking a close look I noticed that it was just her messy hair covering her face in a morning walk of shame wow. I looked behind her as David came out running with only a pair of shorts on upon hearing the screams making my laugh sarcastically.

"freedom. " I mocked him before leaving to my room, he's really disgusting couldn't keep it in for one night, I wonder when did he even get the chance to bring her here as we came late last night but well that doesn't concern me anyway so shrugging off the thought I finished the apple before dressing up and leaving the house to pay a little visit to Anna, and maybe even to go shopping a little bit to change the mood. it's Sunday today so no worries about her going to work anyways.

"rise and shine. " I said in a sing song voice walking into her appartment.

"the kitchen! " she yelled back and I jogged over to her.

"please tell me you didn't have your breakfast yet."

"I did, but there're some pancakes left if you're hungry. " she answered as I noticed she was washing the dishes.

"you're a life savior. " she laughed hearing that.

"why? is your husband starving you from the first day? "

"more like nothing to eat unless I cook. " I started taking a bite.

"and I don't cook in the morning. " she said along with me making us both chuckle.

"and that too he already 'cheated' on me. "

"cheated? " she looked at me confused.

"well if I was serious about this marriage it's considered cheating, he already slept with some girl, caught her in the middle of her walk of shame. "

"what? " she was shocked and maybe even a little bit angry but upon noticing that I was looking up at her with a smirk she caught up to what I was thinking.

"freedom. " we said laughing together with a high five.

"but seriously what are you going to do about it? " she asked after a long silence.

"nothing, I don't care about what he does as long as it doesn't concern me. "

"but that's something huge, what if he does it often, and worse if someone from your family or his finds out. "

"well i'm sure he'll do it often, he literally brought someone in the middle of the night and about them finding out it would do me a favor, like i'm sure neither of them will accept such an improper behavior no matter what, and I don't think the would believe me if I told them, and it would be too embarassing even for me to show them an evidence too, so I'll bear with it a little before asking for divorce. " she nodded her head in understatement.

"anyway, enough of him, what about shopping? " I suggested with a raised eyebrow watching in amusement as he lips broke into a full smile, I knew she'd love it, she's her parent's only child, no need to mention they're rich, much more than mine, and her hobby in life is spending that money.

"I'll be done by the time you finish your breakfast. " and just like that without wasting time she run to her room.

*Time Skip*

now our hands are already full of bags as we were discussing on whether to get some latenlunch first or finish our last round before going home first, when she bumped into someone dropping one of her bags.

"oh, i'm sorry. " she apologized bending down to pick it up as I took some of her bags to help her with them, since she bought more than me and she's clumsy enough not to watch out while walking.

"it's okay. " the other woman said and as we looked towards her, I noticed that it was the woman from this morning.

"oh hi, we meet again. " she said cheerfully greeting me, making me kind of confused, like is she faking it or genuinely has no idea about that i'm her lover's wife.

"yeah, hi. " I greeted back, as Anna was confused looking between us.

"we didn't get to introduce ourselves properly this morning, i'm Sarrah. " she stretched her arm for me for a handshake that I couldn't refuse as Anna was looking even more confused upon understanding who she might be.

"Abigail. " I answered dryly not sure what to say next.

"it was really an embarassing situation this morning, didn't know someone was in the house too, since usually he never had guests over. " she commented as I tried to study her, tried to guess whether she's naive or just manipulative but didn't catch any hint.

"it's okay, he should've told us both maybe I could've avoided leaving my room, but I'll make sure to be careful next time. " still no hint.

"have you known each other for too long ?" I asked her and she was confused like maybe she shouldn't tell me that.

"a few times maybe? " she answered hesitantly.

"not to be rude, and it's absolutely none of my business but just for a quick advice from a woman to another, I don't advice you to go around him too much, it would be bad for your reputation once you know the truth. "

"the truth? "

"he's married, you'd look like a mistress, and I don't think you would like that very much. "

"no he's not! " she defended and well, that's as much as i'm wasting my time on her.

"whatever helps you sleep at night, now excuse me. " just like that I pulled Anna and walked away from her.

"why did you tell her? you're not the type to help people randomly unless you're asked for it, and even then you don't always do it. "

"this is a special case, I didn't know whether she was stupid or just good at acting, and since it's kind of related to me I wanted to give her a quick heads up, maybe she wouldn't like to be a mistress, she's the first and the last one though, i'm not a charity, if they want to go around with him they should at least know who he is first, I won't be going around and telling everyone that he's married next time, if they did unintentionally they should take it as a lesson not to trust anyone randomly. "

"you're mean. " she teased me making me chuckle.

"i'm not a charity. " I corrected her as we both decided to make a stop for lunch before going to watch a movie, enough shopping for today. then we went for late dinner before she drove me home and going back to hers. she'll always be my personal driver since I was always to much of a scaredy cat to get a driving license and a little lazy too, since I'd rather take a cab than to drive, and to buy a car then to get a driver that I need to pay monthly is too much of a hustle and too expensive, and I'd have to change either my fancy apartment or minimize my shopping and I hated both options.

as I walked in the house, I was going to my room immediately like I always do usually when David stopped me, yeah, I don't live alone anymore.

"where were you? " he asked me with both of his hands in his pockets.

"where does that concern you? " I asked back.

"you're not living alone, neither are you single as you used to be, you now have a husband that you need to keep updated with your whereabouts. "

"a husband that couldn't hold himself back for one night and brought another woman home? nah, i'm pretty sure he doesn't care. " I answered as if I was talking about someone else.

"jealous? " I couldn't help but laugh sarcastically.

"you're too ahead of yourself, what I'm trying to say is that I didn't lecture you about her with the excuse of being you wife 'on paper', so you don't get to lecture me about my whereabouts. "

"your words are contradicting themselves. " I saighed frustrated, this guy is a pain.

"listen, you were afraid that you'll lose your 'freedom' so I didn't take it awah from you, and respected your wishes, and I just hope you'd stop this stupid expectation of me discussing with you anything that concerns me in return. " he didn't say anything so I took it as my clue to leave to my room, this guy is really weird.
