Episode 4-Jacob’s Return

The afternoon sun painted the sky gold as Jeni arranged flowers on the dining table. Life had become calm again — Jezz was softer, Jenifer was happier, and laughter had finally returned to the mansion.

Then came the message.

“Hey Jeni, I’m back in town. Would love to see you — your old friend, Jacob.”

Her heart skipped. It had been years since she’d last seen him — the man who’d stood by her when the world fell apart.

Jezz walked in, jacket in hand.

Jezz: “You look thoughtful. Everything okay?”

Jeni (hesitating): “It’s Jacob… he’s in town.”

Jezz’s smile faded.

Jezz (coldly): “Jacob.”

The name alone brought back memories — the one man he never trusted.

Jeni: “He just wants to meet; he is my best friend.”

Jezz: “Friends don’t confess they’d take someone’s wife away if given a chance.”

Jeni (softly): “That was years ago and maybe he was just joking with you jezz''

He turned away, pretending not to care, but his hands tightened around the chair.

That evening, Jeni decided to meet Jacob anyway — with Jenifer beside her. She didn’t tell Jezz; she didn’t want another fight.

At the small café near the lake, Jacob stood waiting — smiling, yet nervous.

Jacob: “You look… happy, Jeni. Really happy.”

Jeni (smiling): “I am. Finally.”

Jenifer hugged him cheerfully, “Uncle Jacob!”

Jacob’s heart softened. “You’ve grown so much.”

Then a woman appeared beside him — Leesa.

Leesa: “Hi, I’m Leesa. Jacob’s… girlfriend.”

Jeni smiled warmly.

As they sat, Jacob’s gaze lingered — gentle but full of things unsaid.

Jeni: “How’s life, Jacob?”

Jacob: “Fine. But I guess I’ve been missing the right people.”

Leesa looked down, pretending not to hear, though her heart broke quietly.

That evening, when Jeni returned, Jezz was waiting by the door.

Jezz (sternly): “You met him, didn’t you?”

Jeni (calmly): “Yes. He’s a friend, Jezz.”

Jezz (bitterly): “A friend who once wanted to take you away. Don’t ask me to like him.”

Jeni said nothing.

Days passed. Jacob began visiting the art café Jeni had started with Jezz’s help.

He’d bring flowers, compliment her paintings, make Jenifer laugh — always kind, always gentle.

But Jezz noticed. Every smile between them felt like a needle.

One night, he confronted her.

Jezz: “You don’t see what he’s doing?”

Jeni: “He’s just being supportive.”

Jezz (coldly): “Supportive of you… or waiting for me to fail again?”

Jeni sighed.

Jeni: “Jezz, please don’t start this again.”

Jezz (quietly): “I never stopped.”

From the corner of the hallway, Mrs. Adline watched with quiet satisfaction. Her plan was already taking shape.

That same night, Mrs. Adline met Jacob secretly.

Mrs. Adline: “You care for her, don’t you?”

Jacob: “More than I should.”

Mrs. Adline (smiling): “Then help her see what kind of man Jezz still is. He doesn’t deserve her peace.”

Jacob frowned.

Jacob: “I’m not here to destroy her marriage.”

Mrs. Adline (smirking): “Maybe not. But when she’s hurt again, who will she run to?”

He said nothing — but her words sank deep.

Meanwhile, Leesa overheard everything from the hallway. Her heart broke hearing Jacob’s silence.

That night, she cried quietly — not for herself, but for the man she loved who couldn’t love her back.
