Just as the Judge was explaining the reason for the trial and that he would be fair in making a decision regarding the death of the man who had lost his life, Maximo stood on the side of the bench where Samantha was.
The young woman looked up, and the man simply nodded at her. The lawyer, who didn't understand who this man was, looked at him with annoyance and said:
"You're in the wrong trial."
"You're in the wrong room, sir."
Maximo just stared at him intently and said almost in a whisper, just so he could hear:
"You inept piece of shit; I'm not mistaken, I'm where I need to be; why don't you do me a favor and get out of here before I throw you out myself," the tall man said while dusting off his jacket as if cleaning something off.
Samantha just stared at him, as she heard the man, so before the man could speak again,
Samantha asked him to leave.
"But Miss; I am your lawyer."
"I know, but you don't believe in me, at least this gentleman seems to have the intention of helping me, so I don't want you to handle my case anymore."
That's how the lawyer just turned around cursing that man, without even imagining who he was until, as he was about to leave, he heard someone say,
"Hey, isn't that lawyer 'Maximo d'luca'? How did he get here? This man is the hardest to hire, they must have paid a million-dollar sum for him to be here." The man only turned slightly to notice the imposing man, and after that he felt a chill run down his body. He had treated that damn wolf in a challenging way, now more than ever he knew that he would have big problems, and he wasn't so wrong in reality.
For his part, Gabriel was in one of the benches of the people who were watching the trial take place. He doesn't understand why the man reacted just by hearing Declan's name, but it seems he will be helpful.
Just as Maximo expected, the family of that man came out, saying that he was an incredible father, a great husband, and that he left young children; while crying, they were asking for justice. Maximo knew that that woman, the mother of the children, was only looking to get money, but even so, she wouldn't be able to get the charges against Samantha dropped, since what she was accused of was a very delicate crime, and the process would continue just because.
Maximo just shook his head, while the rest were moved by how they wanted to portray the victim as a poor widow and his client as a wretch who had left some children orphaned, when there was still no evidence against Samantha. It's not that he had anything against that man, since he didn't even know him, but everything affected his client, so he had to be smart.
When Steven finished questioning the man's wife, who looked so pitiful, it was Maximo's turn, and he only asked something; tell me, what does your current partner think about you being here?
Upon hearing that; the woman was speechless, but the prosecutor intervened immediately saying that the witness was not being judged, even so, it seems that the people who had felt moved a while ago were only surprised and Maximo said I have nothing more to say.
So he returned to his seat, then an older woman entered, apparently she was the young man's mother, she was more sensible in giving her statement and only asked for justice for her son; in addition to saying that she didn't know if the young woman was guilty, but if not, the authorities should continue looking for who had taken her son's life, just like that woman, the father entered, it seems that that day the trial of that first day would only show the victim's family.
Maximo asked what was necessary,
While Samantha looked regretfully at that lady, she knew what it is to lose someone you love, she felt the same before the loss of her mother, she can't imagine what it will feel like to lose a child, she only felt compassion for the pain of the young man's parents.
At the end of the trial; the Judge ruled that the next appointment with the court would be in the next two months, so for now the young woman should be taken to a women's prison, the Judge ruled.
Maximo immediately approached the judge and asked why he would prolong the trial so much, and he only replied that the police were still collecting evidence and it was the time they asked for,
Maximo knew that there was someone behind it, but how could he refuse the Judge's decision, even so, he preferred to remain silent and accept his order.
After that, he approached Samantha and introduced himself formally, he told her who had hired him, pointing to Gabriel who was there, she only looked at him to look around, disappointed not to see him there.
Maximo knew who she was looking for; so he just told her; for now he is still out of the country.
Samantha just nodded, even so, for some strange reason she didn't feel so alone after seeing Gabriel and the lawyer.
Then he also informed her that the trial would resume in two months and that in that time he would be in charge of finding the evidence that proved her innocence.
Samantha thanked him, at that moment she didn't care if she was freed or not, she still felt that she had lost the love of her life, who only looked at her with hatred, but, it seems that everything would bring with it an unexpected turn.
After that trial, Maximo began to collect all possible evidence, reviewed all the security camera videos, in addition to verifying what Samantha had told him in her last visit, the fact that she was saying goodbye to Declan,
Upon hearing that, he imagined his good friend trying to keep a smile, while inside he felt miserable for losing the woman he loves, without imagining that now his damn executioner is the one he left her to, so at that moment someone crossed his mind.
He knew that there were things that were not consistent; but the Forensic doctor's report was not too precise; so she could help him;
Something was escaping him.
Meanwhile, Gabriel was looking everywhere to find Declan, but nothing, there was no sign of him anywhere.
