Isabel looked like a rabbit trying to run away while it's predator stood watching it thrash around. She was thrashing wildly to get free from his grasp after hearing him mention her younger brother and sister. She started panicking and once again fresh hot tears flooded her eyes. His hold on her arm tightened and she started crying.
It was too much for her to handle. Now her legs were unable to hold her up and she slid down the wall. "Why are you doing this to me?", she asked Carter while crying. "Just say that it was your bad luck, princess," and with that he swung her into his strong arms and carried her inside her apartment.
One hour later
Carter came out with Isabel following him, her head hung low and looking dejected. Carter asked his chauffeur to get the bags and he opened the door and looked at Isabel. She got in the car wordlessly. Soon they reached the hospital and she turned her head to look at Carter as if asking him why were they there. Carter got the question and told her that the helicopter was waiting for them on the hospital provided helipad. Getting in the elevator got her nostalgic. This was the place she had started as an intern and was now a respected surgeon. Many good and bad memories were linked to this place. Those hallways where she and her team had cried together, felt nervous, coming out of the operation theatre after a successful surgery and many more. And now she was bidding all of it goodbye.
The helicopter ride was very uneventful. Soon they landed in Milan. Many cars were waiting for them not far from where the helicopter had landed. A question popped up in her head, 'Just how rich is this man and what does he do? Does he sell drugs, human trafficking, organ trafficking? Is he a mafia boss? No no he can't be. But the way he walks and these cars. Stop the train of your thoughts Isabel.'
A man in all black came forward to greet him and told him, "Sir, we're expecting another attack from the Murphys today. For you and ma'am to be safe, we'll be changing the cars and a new route." Isabel stood there horrified at hearing all that. "Fine, carry her bag to the car" Carter said as if unaffected by the news or he was used to it. Before he could move forward, Isabel blocked his path and looked up to him with her eyes full of concern and said, "This is two or more lives we're talking about including your and mine."
"Is that terror I'm seeing in your eyes? ", indifference lacing his words. "Why do you care? It has nothing to do with you. You might have brought me here against my will but only as a doctor not a normal person," and with that she stomped off towards the car only to be told that she got the wrong car. She stomped on her way to the right one. He stood there with an open door smirking haughtily.
