What bothers me is the time imbalance everyone keeps ignoring. She suffered for 20+ years — emotionally neglected, unheard, devalued — and even after giving birth, nothing really changed for her. Now suddenly, because the family suffers for 3–6 months due to illness, guilt, and consequences of their own actions, her entire lifetime of pain is being minimized and rewritten as “her fault.”
People keep saying she should have spoken up, but silence doesn’t always mean indifference — sometimes it’s the only survival left when speaking never changes anything. You can’t blame someone for choosing quiet after years of being dismissed.
Accountability shouldn’t begin only when the powerful are on a hospital bed. And regret after damage is not the same as care before it.
I don’t see a careless daughter here — I see a woman who finally made decisions for her child after a lifetime of being denied agency.
