Episode 5: The denial

"By the way what's your name?" Ms. Elena asked curiously.

"Kira Tanaka," she replied, adjusting her glasses and stepping further into the café. "I just moved here last week I’m transferring to Sieka High."

Ms. Elena’s eyes lit up with recognition. "Oh! You must be the genius who scored perfect marks on the entrance exam. Kai mentioned someone amazing was joining his class, but he didn’t say you were this pretty and feisty too!"

"That was how genius brain function. You can tell that she was smarter that Albert Einstein. Her IQ might be in 600." Kai add.

Kira felt a faint blush creep up her cheeks despite herself. "I’m not here to be complimented. Just... whatever he ordered for me, please."

She found a seat by the window and pulled out her notebook, trying to focus on reviewing her calculus notes. From the corner of her eye, she saw Kai ordering at the counter

A few minutes later, Kai set a plate of vegetable omelet with whole wheat toast and a glass of orange juice in front of her. He’d already placed his own order a stack of pancakes with honey across from her, but he didn’t meet her eyes as he sat down.

Kira put her notebook down. "Thanks?" She looked away, stirring her juice with her straw. "Anyway, you don't need to take care of me. I can take care of my self."

"I know you can," he said gently. "But that doesn’t mean you have to. Everyone needs someone to look out for them sometimes even geniuses who want to marry their own brains."

Kira’s face turned blank. "What did you say?"

"Oh, nothing. Just finished your breakfast, my genius hedgehog." Kai smiled softly.

Kira paused for a moment on eating and looked at him. "Stop calling me 'my genius hedgehog'."

"And why? You even call me 'stray fox' so it's fair for me." Kai smirk while eating the pancakes.

Kira continue eating despite Kai's teasing. "Why are you calling me that nickname?" Kira asked curiously about the nickname that Kai give.

Kai smiled gently before answering. "You wonder why...? Because you're too smart that no one ever dare to touch you, but the only one that can do it is only me."

"Impossible."

Kai looked irritated by her Denying. "Denying, huh? You even let me hold your hand before we get here."

Kira got offended by his words. "It was true, but I would never confess it." Kira thought to her self and pretend to check the time on her phone. It was already 7:25 AM and the bus are arriving at five minutes.

"It's time to go now, we have a bus to catch up." Kira said in a low tone. She put down the pork and looked towards Ms. Elena. "Ma'am thank you for the meal."

"Let me pay for my own meal this time," she said firmly. "And... thank you. For looking out for me, stray fox."

Kai nodded, his expression soft before pissing off. "Anytime, my genius hedgehog. Now come on if we hurry, we can still make the bus."

"Mentioning of nickname, why did you even call me 'stray fox' you genius hedgehog?!" Kai yelled to his thought.
