Sammys Children's Day

Sammys Children's Day

Chapter 1: The Finance Student and the Gangster

Hong Kong, 1989

Deep inside the shadows of the Kowloon Walled City, the sun almost never shines. It is a place of narrow alleys, flickering neon signs, and people who live by their own rules.

In this dark world, **Xia Liu Yi** was a name that made people tremble. He was the top enforcer for the Xiaoqi Hall gang—a "Red Stick" who was famous for being ruthless, cold, and incredibly loyal to his boss. They called his reputation "Black Children’s Day" because after he was done with a fight, there was usually nothing left but a mess to clean up.

But even a legendary gangster has to deal with the modern world. His boss wanted to start a film company to clean some "dirty money," and Liu Yi was put in charge. The problem? They were trying to make a serious movie, and nobody knew how to write a script.

"Find me someone who can read! If not, you write it!" Liu Yi barked at his subordinate, Xiao Ma.

Xiao Ma, who hadn't even finished middle school, panicked. Then Liu Yi remembered something. "Two years ago, a college student moved into the settlement. Find him".

That night, **He Chu San**, a 21-year-old university student, was walking home from a long day of studying English formulas. Suddenly, a sack was thrown over his head. He was snatched off the street and dragged into the "company".

When the bag was finally pulled off, Chu San found himself in a room with a handsome, muscular man sitting with his legs on a table, casually eating beef offal and watching *The Godfather* on a black-and-white TV.

This was Xia Liu Yi. He looked more like a movie star than a monster, but the air around him was dangerous.

"What did he just say?" Liu Yi asked, pointing at the TV. He couldn't read the English subtitles.

"I’ll make him an offer he can't refuse," Chu San translated nervously.

Liu Yi whistled, impressed. He liked the vibe. He looked at the skinny, polite student and said, "I’m making a movie. I need you to write a story in three days".

Chu San blinked, his heart racing. "But... I study finance," he stammered.

Just then, a man who owed the gang money was dragged into the room. Chu San watched in horror as Liu Yi, with a calm and bored expression, began to "convince" the man to pay up using a pair of pliers and a lit cigarette.

The screams echoed through the room. Chu San’s face went pale. He realized very quickly that "No" wasn't an option here.

Liu Yi turned back to him, stepping over the blood on the floor. He leaned in, his eyes bright like stars, and asked again, "What were you saying?".

Chu San swallowed hard. "I... I study finance... but I can definitely write stories".

Liu Yi patted his head gently, like he was a good dog. "Very good. Good boy".

And just like that, the honor student was officially working for the most dangerous man in the Walled City.
