📍 OFFICE — CONTINUED
“It tastes bad, doesn’t it?” Tian asked, her face falling slightly.
Lu quickly forced a gentle smile. “No, it’s not that. I’m just full,” he said, brushing it off lightly.
【POV: LU】
I don’t like this taste at all. It’s nothing like the food Zie makes—this is terrible.
And why hasn’t he texted me yet? I should just go home.
“I’m sorry, Tian. I have something urgent to attend to,” Lu said, rising quickly. “If you need anything, just tell my secretary. Alright?”
He spoke in a hurry, eager to leave.
Before Tian could even reply, he was gone—rushing out of the room.
The moment he left, Tian’s soft, sweet expression shifted instantly into something cold and sharp.
✦ RING… RING… RING… ✦ (Phone Call)
“You know what to do,” Tian said into the phone, her voice now cold and ruthless.
“Yes, Miss Tian,” a man’s voice replied from the other end.
“Don’t worry, Brother Lu—soon we’ll be together,” she murmured, a cruel glint in her eyes. “I know you have feelings for me. But my brother is just a distraction to you. We must get rid of that distraction for good.”
🏠 LU’S VILLA
【POV: LU】
It’s so quiet here—too quiet. The silence feels heavy, like something is missing. Why isn’t he here to greet me? Why is the house so still? I hate this silence. Lu frowned, his mood darkening by the second.
He called out Zie’s name—again and again—but there was no answer. He searched every room, every corner, but Zie was nowhere to be found. Finally, he went out to the balcony, hoping to spot him there. Still nothing.
Then he noticed something odd: the balcony door was slightly ajar. He stepped closer and saw a single sheet of paper tucked beneath a glass on the small table. His heart skipped a beat as he pulled it out.
“What the hell is this?!”
It was a divorce paper—already signed in Zie’s neat handwriting. Lu’s hands trembled, rage and panic swelling in his chest. Is this some kind of sick joke? Does he really think he can just leave me like this?
He stormed straight to Zie’s room and threw the door open—empty. Not a single trace of him left behind.
You think you can run away from me, Zie? His face turned dark and stormy, eyes blazing with fury.
Suddenly, his phone rang. He answered sharply.
“Hello.” His voice was ice-cold.
On the other end, a nurse’s voice trembled:
“Sir… are you the husband of Mr. Xie Zie?”
“Yes. Why?” Lu snapped.
“Sir… your husband has been rushed to the hospital. He was in a serious car accident.”
“WHAT?! Which hospital? Tell me now!” Lu shouted, his blood turning to ice.
The nurse, terrified by his tone, answered quickly:
“General Hospital, sir! Please come at once—he’s in critical condition!”
