Episode 4 – Stories That Existed Only in Her Heart

The school year continued, and life settled into a routine.

Every morning, Aisha walked through the school gate with the same quiet hope she had carried since her first day. She no longer expected miracles, but somewhere deep inside, a tiny voice still whispered, "Maybe today will be different."

She never stopped listening to that voice.

As she entered the classroom, she noticed that everyone seemed comfortable with one another now. Friends saved seats for each other before class began. They exchanged homework, shared jokes, and argued over silly things that made them laugh only moments later.

Aisha watched them from her desk.

Sometimes she wondered what it felt like to belong somewhere.

To have someone waiting for you.

To hear someone call your name the moment you walked into the room.

Instead, she quietly unpacked her books and waited for the teacher to begin.

---

One afternoon, during English class, the teacher asked everyone to read a story aloud.

One by one, students stood and read with confidence.

When it was Aisha's turn, she slowly walked to the front of the classroom.

At first, her voice trembled.

But as she continued reading, something changed.

The story came alive through her words.

The classroom became silent.

Even the students who usually whispered during lessons listened carefully.

When she finished, the teacher smiled proudly.

"Excellent reading, Aisha. You have a beautiful voice."

The class clapped politely.

For a brief moment, Aisha's heart filled with happiness.

"Maybe now they'll talk to me," she thought.

As the lesson ended, she carefully packed her book and waited.

Perhaps someone would compliment her.

Perhaps someone would say, "You read really well."

But the students quickly returned to their own conversations.

Within seconds, it was as if she had never stood at the front of the class.

The applause disappeared.

So did the moment.

---

That evening, as she walked home, she replayed the class in her mind.

She imagined it differently.

In her imagination, a girl stopped beside her.

"You read so well today."

"Really?"

"Yes! Will you sit with me tomorrow?"

The imaginary conversation continued all the way home.

By the time she reached her house, they had become best friends.

They laughed together.

Shared lunch.

Visited each other's homes.

It felt so real that she almost smiled.

But when she stepped inside, reality quietly returned.

There had been no conversation.

No invitation.

No new friend.

Only silence.

---

As the weeks passed, her imagination became her favourite place.

Whenever a classmate smiled politely while walking past, she imagined they secretly wanted to know her.

Whenever someone accidentally looked in her direction, she wondered if they had been trying to catch her attention.

Whenever a boy borrowed a pencil from the same row, her heart created an entire story around that tiny moment.

She knew these were only dreams.

Yet dreaming made loneliness easier to carry.

Her imagination became a world where she wasn't invisible.

A world where people chose her first.

A world where someone always saved her a seat.

---

One Friday afternoon, the teacher announced that the annual school function would take place the following month.

The classroom immediately filled with excitement.

Students discussed dances, songs, dramas, and competitions.

Groups quickly formed to prepare performances together.

Aisha wanted to participate too.

She loved reading stories and secretly enjoyed acting in front of the mirror at home.

She gathered the courage to walk toward a group of girls.

Before she could speak, one of them smiled apologetically.

"Sorry... our group is already full."

Aisha nodded.

"Oh... it's okay."

She walked away before anyone noticed the disappointment in her eyes.

Once again, she found herself sitting alone.

Looking out of the classroom window.

Watching the wind gently move the leaves on the trees.

She wondered if people ever noticed lonely hearts the way they noticed beautiful flowers.

---

That night, she opened her little notebook.

It had slowly become more than just a place to write.

It had become the only friend who listened without interrupting.

She picked up her blue pen and wrote:

"Sometimes I create stories in my mind because they're happier than my real days."

She stared at the sentence for a long time.

Then she smiled sadly.

Maybe one day those stories would come true.

Maybe one day someone would walk into her life and make all those imaginary conversations real.

Until then...

She would keep dreaming.

Because dreams were the only place where loneliness could never reach her.

End of Episode 4

"Sometimes the heart writes beautiful stories—not because they happened, but because it needed a place where hope could survive."
