Six hours later, all my classes had ended. I was getting ready to go home and write my report for the day. Although nothing suspicious had happened at school, I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was following me.
As I walked home, I noticed the same person behind me. I started walking faster, but they kept following me.
Suddenly, I stopped.
Without thinking, I grabbed the person's arm, flipped him over my shoulder, and slammed him onto the ground. Before he could react, I tied him up and dragged him to my house.
Once we got there, I tied him to a chair and searched his pockets. I found an ID card with his picture on it. To my surprise, he was a senior at the same school.
Then I noticed something that shocked me.
He was wearing my fake glasses.
My mind started racing.
"Why does he have my glasses? Why was he following me?"
Without wasting another second, I grabbed a cup of water and splashed it across his face.
He woke up with a frightened expression.
Lisa: "Hey! Why were you following me?"
Boy: (Confused) "What? I wasn't following you!"
Lisa: (Sarcastically, rolling her eyes) "Oh, really? Then why do you have my glasses? Are you a thief?"
Boy: "No! You bumped into me at school today. You dropped these glasses, so I was trying to return them to you. I would've called out to you, but I didn't know your name. I also didn't want to scare you."
Lisa froze.
She realized she had misunderstood everything.
Lisa: (Feeling guilty) "Oh... I'm so, so sorry."
Boy: (Laughing softly) "Okay, okay. That's enough apologizing. Just let me go, please."
Lisa: "Yeah... of course."
I untied him immediately. As he walked out of the house, I felt incredibly guilty for accusing an innocent person.
A few hours later, I was asleep when...
CRASH!
The loud sound of breaking glass jolted me awake.I didn't waste another second.
I grabbed my baseball bat and quietly walked downstairs to the living room. As soon as I got there, I saw a shadowy figure standing in the darkness.
Before I could react, several ninjas surrounded me.
One of them suddenly charged at me, but I dodged his attack just in time.
Lisa: (Shouting) "Listen! You've messed with the wrong person! I don't know who you are or what you want, but if you keep this up, you're going to regret it!"
As I continued fighting, I managed to knock down a few of the ninjas. Just as I reached for my phone to call for help, one of them struck me from behind.
Everything went black.
I slowly opened my eyes to a bright light shining above me.
"Am I dead?" I wondered.
For a moment, I thought I had gone to heaven, but unfortunately, I was very much alive.
I was lying in a hospital bed.
As I tried to sit up, a man walked into the room.
Mr. Stephen: "Lisa! What were you thinking?"
Lisa: (Interrupting) "Hold on a second. You don't get to yell at me. I'm the one lying in a hospital bed with a terrible stomach injury!"
Mr. Stephen took a deep breath and calmed himself.
Mr. Stephen: "Do you know anything about the people who attacked you?"
Lisa: "No."
Mr. Stephen sighed.
Mr. Stephen: "Lisa, all we asked you to do was gather information as a journalist. We never expected you to fight them. This mission has become too dangerous. We're calling it off, and we're sending you home."
Lisa looked at him in disbelief.
Lisa: "Wait a minute. You don't get to make that decision for me! I've dreamed of becoming a journalist my whole life. Those people attacked me, and now you expect me to walk away? No way!"
She clenched her fists.
Lisa: "I'm not giving up. I'll find out who those people are and why they came after me—even if I have to do it alone."
Mr. Stephen looked at her for a long moment.
He could see the determination in her eyes.
