Love Storm

The Storm Begins

Bang!

A loud explosion came from the front right wheel of Rain’s small car. The steering wheel shook violently as the car scraped against the road.

“Hey! What happened to my baby?!”

Stuck in Bangkok traffic and now with a blown tire, eighteen-year-old Rain felt like his world was ending. He had only passed his driving test three months ago. If his father found out…

“Fuck! Don’t rush me… what should I do first?”

Then he remembered.

Emergency lights.

He quickly pressed the button. The cars behind him began overtaking as he tried to steady the shaking vehicle and slowly move it to the side. Just as he managed—

Pap-pa! Pap-pa!

The rain started pouring heavily.

“Damn…”

Panicking, Rain grabbed his phone.

“Papaaa, help me—”

Knock. Knock. Knock.

He froze.

Outside his window stood a tall man in a black leather jacket, sitting on a huge Ducati bike, helmet covering his face. He looked dangerous. Intimidating.

I’m done for.

The man pointed at the wheel and knocked again.

Rain lowered the window slightly.

“Phii, what’s wrong?”

The man lifted his helmet just enough to reveal sharp, hawk-like eyes.

“There’s a detour ahead. Move your car there. I’ll check the wheels for you.”

“Really?!”

The man nodded once.

Rain slowly drove forward while the biker blocked traffic and turned on his signal to protect him. Watching through the mirror, Rain felt both grateful and suspicious.

What if I get robbed?

But with the rain getting worse and no other choice, he parked at the detour.

The biker parked behind him, turned on emergency lights, then walked over and knocked again.

“Yes, Phii.”

“Your tire’s punctured. Do you have a spare?”

Rain immediately opened the trunk and pointed.

“Can you use it like this, Phii?”

“Have you ever changed a tire before?”

Silence.

“So that’s it,” the man muttered. “Wait in the car. The rain’s getting heavier. I’ll handle it.”

“But—”

“If you stay, you’ll be in the way.”

Rain had no comeback. He sat inside and watched.

With quick, skilled movements, the man lifted the car with a jack like it was nothing. Rain eventually grabbed an umbrella and ran out.

“Even if I can’t help change it… I can hold this. Is there anything I can do?”

The man looked up. His eyes softened slightly.

“Hold this.”

Rain took the helmet.

Now, up close, he noticed everything.

Broad shoulders under the wet leather jacket. Long dark hair tied roughly at the nape. Strong arms tightening bolts with confidence.

So cool.

So manly.

“Thank you very much, Phii. If you hadn’t helped, I wouldn’t know what to do.”

“If you want to drive, learn to take care of your car too. At least know how to solve basic problems.”

“…Alright.”

Soon, it was done.

When the man stood to full height, Rain felt small. But what stunned him wasn’t his height.

It was his face.

Sharp features. Dark brows. Prominent nose. Thin lips. Faint stubble.

“Move back, Nong. I’ll put the tire in the trunk.”

Rain stepped back, staring openly.

“Can I have my helmet back?”

Instead of answering, Rain whispered—

“So handsome…”

The biker paused.

“Thanks for the compliment,” he said calmly, leaning closer to retrieve the helmet. “And I was asking for this back.”

Their faces were inches apart.

Rain’s heart pounded wildly as a faint masculine scent reached him. He didn’t even know why he felt so nervous.

The man stepped back and put the helmet on.

“Don’t throw tires by the roadside again. Go home soon. It’s raining hard—you might get sick.”

Rain nodded quickly.

“Get in the car. I have to go too.”

“Yes! Thank you!”

Rain jumped into the car, still flustered. Through the rearview mirror, he saw the biker watching him. Only when Rain started driving did the man finally move.

The biker raised one hand in farewell before accelerating into the rain.

Rain gripped the steering wheel, face burning.

“Dammit!”

That wasn’t just a man.

That was a storm on a Ducati.

And Rain had just been swept away.
