CHAPTER 2

The Storm Day

“You’re stupid, did you hear me? That guy was so cool! First, I was scared to death when the tire burst. Then someone knocked on my window. I thought I was cursed or about to get stabbed and robbed. But he was generous, and his skills? Top-notch! He touched it twice and changed my wheel just like that!”

“I freaking heard it,” Sky muttered, eyes still on his manga. “He’s so handsome, a dead cow, a falling buffalo, like a Korean protagonist who fell from heaven.”

“Oh? How do you know?”

“I know because I’ve heard this story three times. Each round you upgrade him. At this rate, that Bike Guy isn’t even human anymore, Rain.”

Young Master Warain pouted and shook the table.

“Sky, you’re an ass. Listen to me!”

“Did you realize you’re annoying?”

“And you realize you’re mean?”

“Well, I am mean. Go tell this story to someone else.”

Rain groaned dramatically. “You’re a terrible friend!”

Sky sighed and finally looked at him properly. Rain was undeniably good-looking—big dark eyes, pale skin, red lips, slim figure. Girls always turned to look at him. But his mouth? Too talkative.

“Fine. Tell me again,” Sky said.

Rain immediately brightened.

“My tire exploded! I thought I was going to the underworld. Then a hero on a white horse appeared. At first I thought he was a bank robber with that helmet. But what robber rides a million-baht Ducati? When he took off the helmet—fuck—so handsome. And when he changed the wheel? So cool. His face was blank like this…”

Sky rested his chin on his hand, listening for the fifth time.

“You were so impressed. Why didn’t you ask for his number?”

Rain froze. “…Why didn’t I?”

Before Sky could tease him further—

“Rain.”

“Ple!” Rain instantly stood up, tail almost wagging.

Ple, the almost-Star of the Architecture Faculty, smiled. Rain had been flirting with her for two months. Failed completely.

“Ple, is there something you want with me?”

“No, I’m here for Sky.”

“Huh?! You’re stealing my crush from behind the kitchen?!”

Sky rolled his eyes. “Ple, what’s wrong?”

“For next month’s event, do you have old document forms? I’m too lazy to ask Phii Som. He’ll scold me again.”

“There should be. Last month I met Phii Phayu, so I got important forms.”

Ple gasped. “You met Phii Phayu?! That Phii Phayu?!”

Rain frowned. “Who is Phayu?”

Both of them stared at him like he had been living under a rock.

“Phii Phayu,” Ple said excitedly, “the one teachers always talk about. Asia Star Award winner. Went to World Star and got second place because he had to help at home. Three-year committee president. University Moon. And most importantly—very handsome!”

Rain felt irritation rise.

“Ple, is your brother gay? Why does he admire him so much?”

The atmosphere turned awkward.

Sky sighed. “If Phii Som is gay, you’re gay first, Rain. You were staring at Bike Guy like you wanted him as your husband.”

“Hey! I just admire him!”

“Well, we’re just admiring Phii Phayu too.”

Ple huffed lightly. “If Phii Phayu dated Phii Som, I’d get him as a brother. Don’t insult him.”

She left.

Sky leaned close and whispered two words.

“Bird. (Rejected.)”

“Damn Sky!”

That Night – The Storm

Rain attended the Code Line gathering despite the raging storm outside. Seniors from many generations filled the pub.

“I don’t drink alcohol, Phii.”

“I’m driving.”

“C’mon, just a little.”

Rain refused politely.

Then the seniors began gossiping.

“He rejected a chief-level salary.”

“He said he didn’t want to be someone’s kid.”

“They call him the Prince of Architecture.”

“Some call him the Architecture God.”

Rain blinked. “Senior, who are you talking about?”

“You don’t know? Phayu.”

The name hit him.

Before he could think further—

Bang!

The pub door swung open as lightning flashed.

A tall figure stepped in, rain dripping from shoulder-length hair. He wiped water from his sharp face. Wet shirt clung to his strong body.

Rain’s heart stopped.

That face.

Those hawk eyes.

“Let’s applaud Khun Phayu for bringing the storm with him!”

Phayu.

Storm.

Same meaning.

Rain shot up and slapped the table.

“You are Phayu!”

All eyes turned.

Their gazes met.

“Yes. My name is Phayu. What’s yours?”

Rain’s world collapsed.

He doesn’t remember me.

Three minutes later, Rain was silently dying of embarrassment.

But when Phayu glanced at him again, those sharp eyes lingered.

Rain’s heart betrayed him.

Don’t look at me like that.

He wanted to hate him. Instead, he felt shy.

Later, Rain tried to approach him—but seniors surrounded Phayu. Ple clung to him like a gecko.

Rain rolled his eyes. “Rhinoceros.”

Eventually he gave up.

“He doesn’t remember me. What’s the point of thanking him? Let’s go home.”

Outside – Again

Rain started his car.

Clack… knock.

Dashboard lights flashed red.

“No… no no no.”

The engine wouldn’t start.

Rain hit the steering wheel. “Unlucky! I have no luck with cars!”

His parents were in Europe. He was alone.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Rain turned.

Hawk eyes.

“Phii Phayu!” He opened the door happily. “The car broke down! It was fine before but now it won’t start. Please help me!”

Phayu looked calm.

“I understand.”

“Yes?”

A small smile appeared.

“Nong Rain, right?”

Rain froze.

He remembers me.

“Yes. My name is Rain.”

And outside, the storm raged again.
