Eternal Crimson Bond
The morning sun spilled softly across the campus of Saint Willow High, painting everything in warm gold. Students moved in groups, laughing loudly, gossiping, dragging themselves into another ordinary school day.
But Elena wasn’t like the others.
She walked alone.
Not because she wanted to be special—but because silence felt safer.
Her dark braids swayed slightly as she stepped into the classroom, slipping into her usual seat by the window. From there, she could see everything… and avoid everyone.
“Did you hear? We have a new student today,” someone whispered behind her.
Elena didn’t react. New students came and went. Nothing ever changed.
Until it did.
The classroom door opened.
A cold breeze followed it in.
The teacher stepped aside and said, “Class, we have a transfer student. Please welcome him.”
Elena lifted her eyes slowly.
And that was the moment everything felt… different.
He walked in.
Tall. Calm. Controlled.
His presence didn’t just enter the room—it silenced it.
Black hair slightly messy, pale skin almost unreal under the sunlight. He didn’t smile. He didn’t look nervous. He didn’t look like he belonged in a classroom full of teenagers at all.
“Introduce yourself,” the teacher said.
The boy paused.
Then spoke in a low, steady voice.
“Darian.”
Just that.
No last name. No details. Nothing else.
The teacher cleared her throat awkwardly. “Alright… you can sit anywhere.”
Every seat suddenly felt taken except one.
The empty chair beside Elena.
Of course.
She sighed quietly, already preparing for the inconvenience of a new seatmate.
Darian walked toward her.
Step by step.
Calm. Silent.
But as he got closer, Elena felt something strange tighten in her chest. Not fear exactly… but awareness. Like her body knew something her mind didn’t.
He sat down.
No greeting.
No glance.
Just silence.
Elena stared forward, trying to ignore him, but it was impossible. There was something unsettling about his stillness. He didn’t fidget. He didn’t breathe loudly. He barely moved at all.
Like a statue pretending to be human.
Minutes passed.
The teacher began the lesson, but Elena’s attention kept slipping.
Then—
She felt it.
A gaze.
Not casual.
Not curious.
Heavy.
She turned slightly.
Darian was looking at her.
Not the board.
Not the teacher.
Her.
Their eyes met.
And Elena froze.
His eyes were dark… almost black. But for a split second, something flickered inside them—like a deep, burning red trying to break through.
Her breath caught.
A strange pressure filled the air.
Then it was gone.
He looked away as if nothing had happened.
Elena quickly faced forward again, heart suddenly louder than the teacher’s voice.
What was that?
The rest of the lesson passed slowly. Too slowly. She tried to focus, but her mind kept returning to that moment.
Those eyes.
That feeling.
When the bell finally rang, students rushed out, noise returning like a wave.
Elena stayed behind to pack her books.
She wasn’t in a hurry.
Neither was he.
Darian remained seated.
Still.
Watching nothing.
Elena hesitated, then stood up anyway.
As she walked past him, she felt it again—that strange tension in the air. Like the room temperature dropped slightly.
She paused without meaning to.
Darian spoke suddenly.
“Your name.”
His voice was quiet. Controlled.
Elena blinked. “Huh?”
He finally turned his head slightly toward her. “What is your name?”
It was such a simple question… but the way he asked it made her feel like it mattered too much.
“Elena,” she replied slowly. “Elena Carter.”
A pause.
Then he repeated softly, “Elena.”
Like he was testing it.
Tasting it.
Something about it made her uncomfortable.
“You’re new here too, right?” she asked, trying to sound normal.
“Yes.”
“That’s it?”
He looked at her again.
This time, longer.
And colder.
“Yes,” he said.
Silence fell between them again.
Elena adjusted her bag. “Okay… well. See you around, I guess.”
She turned to leave.
But before she could take another step, she heard him speak again.
“Be careful.”
She stopped.
Slowly turned back.
“What?”
Darian’s expression didn’t change.
But his voice lowered slightly.
“This place… is not what it seems.”
Elena frowned. “That sounds dramatic for a school.”
A pause.
Then he said something that made her skin prickle.
“Neither am I.”
For a moment, neither of them moved.
The air felt heavier again, like the world had narrowed down to just the two of them.
Elena searched his face, trying to figure out if he was joking.
But he wasn’t smiling.
He wasn’t even blinking much.
Finally, she forced a small laugh. “Okay… that’s creepy.”
Darian stood up slowly.
And for the first time, Elena realized something unsettling.
He didn’t make normal footsteps.
It was too quiet.
Almost… soundless.
He walked past her without another word.
And as he left the classroom, Elena stood still for a long moment, staring after him.
A strange thought crossed her mind.
He doesn’t feel like everyone else.
Outside, the wind shifted.
And somewhere far beyond the school walls, something unseen seemed to stir awake.
Elena didn’t know it yet…
But her life had already changed the moment Darian sat beside her.
And nothing would ever be ordinary again.
