Lines We Didn’t Mean to Cross

Scene 1 — Aoi’s New Focus

Aoi arrived at school early, something he never used to do.

He sat at his desk, reviewing notes, feeling strangely proud of himself.

He wasn’t chasing anyone.

He wasn’t hiding from anyone.

He was just… improving.

Riku walked in, yawning.

Riku’s teasing — “Bro, who are you and what have you done with Tanaka?”

Aoi’s growth — “I’m just trying to be better.

For myself.”

Riku smirked.

“And totally not because two girls are suddenly staring at you.”

Aoi froze.

“Two—?”

Riku pointed behind him.

Aoi turned.

Miyu was watching him from her seat.

And Kira was leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed, smirking.

Aoi sighed.

“This is getting out of hand.”

Scene 2 — Miyu Makes a Move

Miyu approached Aoi’s desk with a shy but determined expression.

“Tanaka-kun… can we study together before class?”

Aoi blinked.

“Uh, sure.”

She sat beside him, closer than usual.

Her shoulder almost touched his.

Aoi tried to focus on his notes.

Tried.

But Miyu kept glancing at him.

“You’ve changed a lot,”

she said softly.

“Is that… bad?”

“No. It’s just… different.”

She looked down.

“I’m still getting used to it.”

Aoi nodded, unsure what to say. Then—A shadow fell over their desks.

Scene 3 — Kira InterruptsKira leaned forward, hands on Aoi’s desk. With a shy but determined expression.

“Tanaka-kun… can we study together before class?”

Aoi blinked.

“Uh, sure.”

She sat beside him, closer than usual.

Her shoulder almost touched his.

Aoi tried to focus on his notes.

Tried.

But Miyu kept glancing at him.

“You’ve changed a lot,”

she said softly.

“Is that… bad?”

“No. It’s just… different.”

She looked down.

“I’m still getting used to it.”

Aoi nodded, unsure what to say.

Then—A shadow fell over their desks.

Scene 3 — Kira Interrupts

Kira leaned forward, hands on Aoi’s desk.

“Morning, Tanaka. Studying already? Impressive.”

Miyu stiffened.

“Good morning, Minami-san.”

Kira smiled sweetly — too sweetly.

“Oh, Asahina-san. Didn’t see you there.”

Aoi felt the temperature drop.

Kira tapped Aoi’s notebook.

“You’re smart. I like that.”

Miyu’s eye twitched.

Aoi coughed.

“Minami-san, we’re kind of—”

“Studying? Great. I’ll join.”

She pulled up a chair without waiting.

Riku whispered from behind:

“This is better than TV.”

Aoi glared at him.

Scene 4 — The Jealousy Sparks

The three of them studied together — or tried to.

Kira leaned close to Aoi every time she asked a question.

Miyu leaned closer too, refusing to be outdone.

Aoi was trapped between them like a hostage.

“Tanaka-kun, can you explain this part?”

Miyu asked, sliding her notebook toward him.

“Tanaka, what about this one?”

Kira asked, sliding hers on top of Miyu’s.

Their notebooks collided.

Their eyes met.

A spark of rivalry flashed.

Aoi slowly lowered his head onto the desk.

“I just wanted to study…”

Riku patted his back.

“You’re living a shoujo manga, man.”

Scene 5 — Lunchtime Disaster

At lunch, Aoi escaped to his usual tree.

Or so he thought.

Miyu arrived first, holding her bento.

“I made extra… if you want some.”

Aoi smiled politely.

“Thanks, Asahina-san.”

He took a bite.

It was good.

Really good.

Then—Kira appeared, holding her own bento.

“Tanaka. Try mine too.”

Aoi blinked.

“You… cooked?”

“No. I bought it. But I picked it out with care.”

She sat on his other side.

Miyu frowned.“Tanaka-kun already has food.”

“He can eat more.”

Aoi stared at the sky.

“Why is this happening…”

Scene 6 — Aoi’s Honest Moment

After lunch, Aoi stood up.

“I need a minute.”

He walked a few steps away, taking a deep breath.

He wasn’t angry.

He wasn’t overwhelmed.

He was… confused.

He used to dream of Miyu noticing him.

Now she was trying.

And Kira — bold, sharp, unpredictable — was suddenly interested too.

Aoi didn’t know what he wanted.

But he knew he didn’t want to hurt anyone.

Scene 7 — Miyu vs. Kira

Behind him, Miyu and Kira faced each other.

Miyu spoke first.

“Why are you so interested in Tanaka-kun?”

Kira smirked.

“Because he’s interesting. And because you only noticed him after he stopped chasing you.”

Miyu flinched.

“That’s not true.”

“Isn’t it?”

Miyu looked down.

Kira stepped closer.

“If you like him, say it. If you don’t, step aside.”

Miyu’s eyes widened.

“I… I don’t know yet.”

Kira shrugged.

“Then I’ll keep going.”

Scene 8 — The Ending Hook

Aoi returned, unaware of the conversation.

“Sorry. I’m okay now.”

Miyu smiled softly.

Kira smirked confidently.

Riku whispered:

“Bro… you’re doomed.”

Aoi sighed.

“Yeah. I know.”

But deep down, he felt something else.

For the first time in his life…People were choosing him.

And that scared him more than anything.
