“Huh, day dreaming again” Jay shakes his head thinking of how his friend ‘Mr. Handsome’ be loosing his focus the fifth time today.. and that is a new record.

On the other hand ‘Mr. Handsome’ was having a dilemma with his constant confusing but steamy dreams about a stranger that his mind subconsciously reminds him that it is the same gender as him and this was what had him in deep thoughts. As per him, he should be feeling at least concerned as he had never liked or even imagine himself with boys but disgust was so far in the back of his mind.

The first time he had dreamt of this he ignored but then he had another dream with almost the same context but different than the first. That has him thinking is he into boys now but in waking life he never felt any attraction towards any boys in school or even outside school, however this morning he bumped into someone that automatically causes him to stop in his tracks to investigate and missed him by seconds as a group of students came rushing before the last bell. Hence his predicament now...in deep thoughts about a person he bumped into.

Jay being his closest friend was the only one that dared to call him out on his bullshit and amongst their friend group he was the first ever friend he made when he moved to the country and new school. They clicked right away, as many of their interest were similar. He would never compare any of his friends as they all had a different personality and that complimented each other. Jay is as almost as tall as him shorter by a few whilst he stood at 6ft 1 with this dark and mysterious look that girls always fall for and to top it off he had a scar on the left side of his lips which adds to that. Jay on the other hand was at 6ft with the typical handsome look with bleached blond hair with his sexy man bun.

Jay kept blabbing but to ‘Mr. Handsome’ it was like he was physically present but mentally somewhere else and to Jay’s disappointment he was talking by himself. Finally he snapped his fingers in front of his friends face a couple of time to get his attention and received a couple of blinking motion from him and with an expression of a deer caught in headlights. He lets out a chuckle but couldn’t deny that he wanted to know what has got his friend this way. The next question that came from his friends mouth was the last thing he ever thought he would ever hear.

“Hey Jay, how do you know you like boys?”He did a double take and almost forgot how to breath but recovered quickly. His mind was processing the last word ...‘boys’... what did that mean. Wait!!!!!!

How does he answer that question? Did he know that he was Bi? But he never mentioned it to anyone and he has always been discreet when it comes to his encounters.!!!!???? “Huh” now it was his turn to be a deer caught in the headlights

“How did you know I liked boys too?” He ask in a quick response and did not realize that he just outed himself to his friend without even knowing.

“What??? No man, I mean like...as in a general question! Bu....t did you just say you like boys too....!!!! HA.... that has to be the best secret I’ve heard in such a long time... It’s cool though” Jay couldn’t believe it, he outed himself to his best friend unintentionally, his friend accepted him all in a minute. His faces must have shown his friend on how he went from surprised, confusion, questioning this understanding and happiness!!

With the big smile on his face he answered his confused friend with the most honest response “You think about him and want to spend time with him even if it does not include getting physical... you know what I mean!!” With that his friend was even more confused.

The bell rung signaling lunch time. Looking at their desk they realized that little to no work has been done on their project during this self study period. With a sigh both of them made their way to the upstairs cafeteria as food on Wednesday was much better than the downstairs one. Jay like usual was leading looking handsome as always and ‘Mr. Handsome’ looking like he just woke up and being his mysterious self with this hard look on his face.

Each time they walk through these familiar hallways girls and boys alike would stop and stare either being jealous or plain out drooling. Jay would flash his side smirk and flirty eyes whilst his friend would be with this hard stare not knowing that that made him more charming and girls dig that.

They finally spotted their two other friends Parker and Sun. Parker was the life of the party where as Sun would do almost everything that Parker would tell him or force him to. Parker was this tall guy with boyish look, he was considered as average as per their fan club but what he lack in visual he made it up with his personality being flirty and charming knowing what girls wanted to hear, whilst Sun was the cute one he was average height and shortest amongst the friends he was considered as the mother of the group, his girlfriend is the sweetest bringing them treats every once in a while and the friends could see how they complimented each other greatly.

Parker was stroking his jaw as if in deep thought or mostly conspiring to do something out of line again. As the other two approached the table, they noticed that Sun had a look on his face that seemed like he wanted to run away until he took notice of the two giants and let a sigh of relief with a small smile.

“Finally, some sane people” Sun exclaimed whilst motioning for the two to check on Parker’s mental state. “Yo, Parker” Jay squeezed his shoulder as to acknowledge him and asked “What are you up to again?” As he knew this kid always have some weird ideas every other day on which scenario to use to get another girl. With that Parker startled all of them when he stood up abruptly with a bright face giving an excuse that he will not have lunch anymore. Sun shook his head whilst rolling his eyes “This kid need a strict partner to keep him grounded...and imma get our lunch cool” with that he stood up with two lunch cards getting in queue with a silent Jay following him..

“DAWN..” A shout came near the door with a petite girl skipping across the cafeteria. She was dressed as a doll today with two piggy tail on either side on her head a fluffy pen in her right hand and small pouch in her left. She would be considered as super cute with a babyish look, button nose, big doe eyes, pale skin and soft pitch voice. She was all smiles when she reached the table and climb on it facing ‘Mr. Handsome’. Letting a smile appear on his face for the first time today whilst pinching the cute girl’s cheek.

“Davon asked me to give you this and said that you should text him after you’re done..” she said in the cutest voice. He nodded his head as to acknowledge what she said with her handing a small piece of paper from per pouch.

“Dawn, I got you some....” Jay stopped mid sentence when he saw a girl between his friends legs on the table and he was not angry, once got closer he realized that it was his friends, brothers girlfriend “Hey Jewl’s, how are you doing today?” She turned with a big smile and side hugged him and jump off the table saying she’s good and mentioning that she will leave them to eat because she had things to do as she is a busy girl.

“Dawn, what was with the question earlier?” Jay asked while placing the food and drinks on the table for his friend. Dawn as in ‘Mr. Handsome’s’ name stared at his friend with a look of are you kidding me!! But answered anyway “uh. I’ve been having some weird thoughts lately and was thinking outside the box” and that was a typical answer to expect from the tall boy. He was never one to give you the full picture and Jay understood him perfectly where as Sun was lost altogether and retorted to texting his girlfriend and ignoring the two.

“Hmm, okay... when you want to talk about it I’ll be ready. Let’s eat” and that was how a typical day between the friends went. Occasionally Parker would make some crude remarks about some irrelevant things and they would all ignore him for the most part. School ends with Parker, Sun and Jay going towards the east and Dawn heading to the North of town.

Dawn came from a line of strong male personality and all males are tall except for his late uncle. He was a mixed breed as his family would always mention, he was the only one that had a different feature from the rest of the family and that caused jealousy amongst the aunt and uncles. He choose to walk to and from school everyday as this was the only time he had with his own thoughts. 30 minutes going and 40 minutes returning from school. His mother would give him all the love she could on behalf of his father that is rarely ever home due to his line of work. He was the middle child and considered the most favored than the rest of his siblings. His older brothers Davon 21 and Dane 19 both were in college constantly fighting for their parents affection but ending with them getting scolded for little nothings. His sister Diana being 15 was a drama queen, exaggerating about trivial stuff. Then there was his princess Destiny only 5 years was an unplanned one and came with a lot of complications hence the name. She was the only one that did not get on his nerves and he loved her to bits. His mother would sneak a few pictures of the both of them taking naps or playing and send to their dad. She would always express how proud she was of him and would smolder him every chance she gets. The house is always a mess, now more than ever because all of them are under the same roof. The house is never quite when Davon and Dane comes home from vacation and he dreads those long weekends. Being Wednesday he knew that he would be able to breathe properly when Monday comes, only then will the house be quiet again.

He stared once again at the small piece of paper and felt his heart quiver as it was his princess birthday today. He already got the best present for her and being Davon he could never differentiate between presents for any of them and this job comes back to him always. Dane would always give envelopes with money being on the safe side. Diana would create something that you would always question her mental health but as per her ‘it’s the thought that counts’. Their father would drop a couple more bills in their monthly allowance for that month. Their Mom will cook the celebrants favorites for a week taking in consideration of those not home.

After getting lost in my head I had bought and wrapped the perfect present for Destiny and could see the house come into view. In my neighborhood our family had the least impressive house but our neighbors still gossip and express their jealous thoughts on how we’re doing this to prove that we are better than them. The truth is that this was my mums preferred design and did not want our rooms to be far from each other being in a two storeyhouse so she had Dad paid to have a one storey build and I can say I liked it too. As I approached the gates I could hear the loud mouth of Dane screaming at Davon to stop and knew that this is going to be a long night and weekend. After I entered the code and stepped into the compound I was tackled by Iggy the dog she was named by Diana in a fair fight.

“Do.....w” Destiny screeched as she came speeding down the pathway and jumped right into my arms. These couple of months after she heard I will be going to college she has been super clingy but in a good way. She was a very bright 5 year old and expresss that she will be clingy until I go to college so when she miss me she can use up her imagination of when she had me close. She still could not say my name properly and we settled with Dow, which I don’t know how it came about.

Dragging her inside from holding on my right leg we settle on the couch with her climbing on my lap and caressing my hair as she does with iggy when petting her. “Skwol was boword today, kid sucks” I stared at her surprise she express herself in that context, but had to chuckle eventually with her cute expression of an eye roll and sigh. I hugged her in a tight embrace and heard a click on the side followed by an oops and chuckle

“Mom...” my deep voice sounding hoarse from lack of use...we stared at one another and smiled goofily. This is the only sane person in the family and she keeps all of us grounded. I miss her even she is right next to me, smiling at us as if we were her most prized possession. She loved all of us equally but you can tell that most of the time she favors Destiny and I. The others just try too hard.

“How was school today?” She ask making herself comfortable on the couch next to us. Destiny was busy with my phone which she took from the side pocket of my bag trying to understand the features. “It was okay, same old same old” I exclaimed followed by us falling into a comfortable silence, after a while placing Destiny to sit on the couch while taking my bag and kissing both of them on the head with a faint I love you being whispered from my side. “I’ll go freshen up then help with dinner” I looked back at my moms face noticing the wheels turning in her head. But she nodded anyway acknowledging what I said.

Birthday dinner has officially become my least favorite dinner. Dad made a surprised appearance after two weeks of business meetings overseas. Mom was super over the top with all the PDA happening which made it awkward for most of us. Davon and Dane kept bickering like old married couple. Diana was screeching with a fake accent and that was giving me a head ache. Destiny was all quiet and this happens each time Dad comes home for the first few days and then she becomes normal but seeing this made me sad and cannot fathom on how she would be once I’m off to college.

Our Dad was observing us and to say that this man is every woman dreams to shag. He was a very hot Dad as per our neighbors being tall as me with dark hair a little grey here and there, a straight nose, sharp jaw, hard and sharp gaze. Once he smiles it would always be towards Mom or Destiny but us the older ones we get a stare of acknowledgement with him trying his best to not scare us. Thankfully he is the only person to make Davon and Dane remain quiet enough for me to enjoy my evenings.

I was snapped out of my thoughts with Dad clearing his throat as if to start his interrogation after months of having all of us together.

“So Davon, how is college life going? Did you make progress in your political science class?” One thing with this man is that regardless of him not being here, he knew everything about us. Even more than mom.

Davon nodded with eyes ready to bulge out of their sockets as if he knows what’s coming next “Good, but I do not want a low score again, tell me when you’ve decided which university you will attend after graduation and I expect a good report with regards to your attendance” and here is the thing with Dad words scares more than his action. Dane was already sweating now that lime light was directed towards him “Explain Dane” two words and now I’m scared. The tension has doubled. Instead of happy birthday it’s an interrogation room with a lie detector attached. “I....I...I was distracted with soccer this semester but I’m taking online tutoring during vacation to improve Sir” typical Dane. I’m pretty sure it was because of relationship matter that he failed one subject which was vital for his dream in becoming a doctor.

“Diana, by 18 me and your mum have come to an agreement that we will not give you allowance anymore until we see improvements of you wanting to do something any thing at all. So you have two years to decide” and shock was on all of our faces. Diana was on the verge on crying but nodded without making eye contact with either of us.

Each time these discussions came into place I was the one that got ‘The Talk’ after everyone has had theirs

“My little girl, happy birthday we will open your presents after dinner okay” he informed with a soft voice. Then came my turn, having be the only one with features like my grand father on my moms side Dad always felt that I may have as well inherited his personality as well

“Dawn, have you decided on college yet? If not Joel informed me that a few universities would like to give you a scholarship and after dinner I would like to discuss something else with you”

I only nodded knowing that the others must have the same nasty looks on their faces as usual after all of our talks.

Dinner went quiet after that and my princess was happy with all of her presents mostly mine as we would go to the park this weekend with just the two of us to enjoy ourselves.

Dad was waiting by his home office when I made my way towards him after all of us was gettin ready to call anight. He motioned for me to close the door and sit on the couch. This was unlike any of our previous talks it looked serious. He started with me remaining quiet for the most part. First was about school results and how proud he was with them. Next was university and how I want to proceed with having a career as I have not express any interest in any thing yet. Then the one that struck me the most. Since I’m coming of age of 18 I have an inheritance left by my grand father and Dad wanted me to take over his company. From what I’ve heard Davon mentioned before each male in the family gets a partial inheritance from our grand parents and it’s was my turn now but he never mentioned Dad offered the company with that.

“ I don’t understand Dad, which business” I knew that I may have been confused from the way he smiled and pat my shoulder

“If you accept I would teach you everything you need to know and after you are done with university you start as the President then I hand over the chairman position. This business is base in a different country hence my travel as your mom didn’t want to move again” comprehension dawned on me on what this entailed. I’m already not in good terms with my siblings now it will become unbearable. I wanted to come to a compromise because I knew that Destiny will have a tough time when I’m not here, but if I decline then Dad will force me anyway but using means that I don’t want to imagine. I nodded but stated my conditions; Destiny comes with me regardless, no arranged marriage I choose who I like knowing Mom and Dad was arranged to be married. And the last I have the final say in anything. Dad was not I favor with them but agreed and said that he will speak to Mom and announce everything on Friday night. With that we bid good night and I knew that this was something that was beyond me but cannot be handled any other way.

Bright personality that is bigger that his petite body is bound to make him a bit to much to handle. Like his name Hwan was a bit hard to handle even by his own family. His mother mentioned numerous time that this was not inherited from her side of family as everyone was easy and same goes with his father.

Hwan was a happy go lucky kind of person with a lot of energy, foul mouth, being overly dramatic and loud. His mother prayed for him to get a person that can balance him out but until now no one was able to suppress this child. He would throw tantrums if any of his things goes missing when he is to blame for it getting lost.

Wednesday morning was a pre warm up for him as his personalydouble by Thursday afternoon and Friday no one can hold him down-so to speak-. That morning he was walking through the hall ways being all giddy he just felt overly affectionate and childish which come across as cute for people who would not know him that well. Goofing around with his friend Benedict (Ben for short) and bumped into the chest of someone and was punched to the side being only 5 ft 5 he could not see whom for him to apologize as the sea of people just came rushing out of nowhere and once the canal bell rang it came to him. He was late for first period

During lunch hour he was back in the yard under the tree his spot almost every lunch time. His mother would pack a big lunch that he could finish and allowed his friends to help him out. Today he found himself staring at him enemy a bit more than any other days. Parker!! He stole his crush of the year Kelly last summer and broke her heart that she transferred school. Parker was stroking his chin and that was a sign that he was about to venture out and capture a new prey. All of a sudden he saw the two tall guys that Parker hangs with approach with the one placing his hand on his shoulder and giving a head nod. The taller one always made Hwan sit in confusion, as he rarely interact with them in return, even when they were smiling at some funny and that caused Hwan to smile softly thinking of those scenarios.

His two friends was staring at him weirdly but he was so engrossed now with that tall boy (He shall be named Bruce banner) that he did not noticed. Then he saw Parker abruptly stood up and the face ‘Bruce Banner’ had made him smile again. Then the two others woke up which Hwan understood to get lunch. Right after a girl came and sat right in front of ‘Bruce Banner’ and that was when Hwan understood that his smile was really attractive and it was directed to this cute girl which must be his girlfriend. The other boy that came with him approached the table with their food and acknowledged the cute girl with her handing ‘Bruce Banner’ a paper and left. The rest of lunch was him staring at that boy and one would think that he wanted to strip him with his eyes.

This was the first time his friends saw him quiete for a long time and they were confused as Parker made Hwan lonely complain of every and anything and curse like a sailor. But this was different.

During self study in the afternoon Ben felt that he should ask Hwan what was up because he and Gun were concerned now. Ben being the tallest of the three was a little over 5 ft9 and Gun at 5 ft7 it’s like eight was not present when they were born but they still had a few years to grow taller as per them.

“Hey, tell me the issue now and don’t hide I saw your eyes glued Dawn the whole lunch period, spill it...” Hwan was shocked that Ben noticed and he thought he was being subtle about it. Scratching the back of his head anti tip his ears turning red proved his friends right

“Is that his name?” He got back with a question in return which did not denied the previous statement but they both nodded a yes to Hwan making him smile in return. He finally knoew his name and it suits him.

“Dawn... huh.....” he exclaimed dreamily but then realized that he did that aloud and composed himself right away but as the day the cats out of the bag already.

Both Ben and Gun had the knowing look and smile to each other as they were going to mention something else they last bell rang signaling end of school.

The three rushed to go to the small hangout/ Gun’s brother’s cafe close to the intersection and college. Hwan was still thinking of Dawn in a way that he never imagined. He was sure that he liked girls but whey was he mesmerized by this ‘tall handsome, bad boy vibe with charcoal dark hair and a strict gaze that made him want to drop... no no no no no... where is this going’ he stoped his trail of thoughts not knowing where this was going. Just as their order arrived they noticed the gang entered minus one, to say that Hwan was a bit disappointed was an understatement but he kept quiet until he felt the sugar rush from the Pink milk he consumed in three gulps.

Parker being a stupid idiot of the three then the other two being nice as per his observation. They sat on a table that was right behind them and started discussing on school stuff and Hwan finally know who was who, the tall guy with bleached hair was Jay and seemed closer to Dawn then Parker of course with the short guy being Sun and the girl earlier was Jewl Dawn’s brother’s girlfriend. Ben kept staring at Hwan’s facial expression as if the boys were talking to him and he was comprehending what’s being discussed. All of a sudden Gun let out a loud laugh causing the boys on the other table as well as Ben and Hwan to stop and turn to stare at him.

Hwan ears was already getting the pink color to it, where as Ben had a facial expression stating that this was a new revelation for him. Sun was the first to take notice of them as Gun was in the same curriculum as him after class

“Oh Gun” Sun called out to the young boy gaining his attention and realization strict him “oh Senior Sun” he acknowledged the other with respect that he is older

“You come here often?” sun questioned

“It’s my brother’s cafe and these are my friends we shill here after school sometime to complete homework and stuff” giving the extra details in the mix. Ben gave a raised brownie understanding.

“Oh cool nice to meet ya guys, these are my friends ‘Annoying Parker’ and ‘Handsome Jay’” pointing to each. Parker gave an ‘I don’t care face’ where as Jay gave a smile with a small wave. After some chat between Sun and Gun over the table, Paris the friend of Gun’s brother approached the table to clear the used mugs and plates. Gun asked if his brother’s whereabouts as he had things to give to him from their mother and Paris mentioned that he should be back any minute.

Jay has never felt the way he felt staring at this person exchanging word with Gun. He was about 5ft7 and to him that was perfect for a partner. His hair was a light brown with dark brown eyes, a flushed cheeks due to his work, some chocolate or what appears to be coffee powder smeared on the tip of his button nose, his body was the perfect fit for him. Jay knew he was thinking way ahead but he liked a challenge and this boy will be his no matter.

After their talk Gun called Paris name and mentioned that it’s better to have him give it to his brother as he will go home now. Jay smiled triumphantly knowing that he at least knew his name and the rest will follow smoothly.

Hwan started becoming drowsy with homework and bid his friends goodbye and a shy bye to the other table. He stayed close to the school and since it was still bright outside he took the shortcut through the alley.

Greeted by his mothers screaming at her older sister Maggy because of her boyfriend being in her room again with door closed for the nth time.

He made his way to his room greeting his mother and straight inside and shutting the door of his room. That caused his mother and sister to look at each other weirdly as he rarely silent.

With the boyfriend matter being forgotten for a short whiletheir mother motioned door open when boyfriend is over and went downstairs.

If I as Hwan is starting to think of a boy then there is an issue here. I was in deep thought taking my uniform off and getting in the showers getting rid of the sweats from school. I have to ask mum about this, to me it made no sense. I liked Kelly so why now.

I finished changing and running down stairs feeling my old self returning. “MOM!!” I shouted and heard something break and mum cursing “That little shit...” she turned around from picking up the broken dishes “I’m not deaf and stop shouting out of nowhere almost gave me a heart attack” she exclaimed taking water from the fridge and prong in in two glasses giving me one to drink. I took mine whilst she sip hers slowly.

“Mom, how does boys have sex?” This could have gone two ways, she spits the water out or choke and sure enough the latter. She started chocking on the water as I believe it went through the wrong pipe. After she composed herself she sat and stared off in the blank space with a look that could be discribed with WTF did I created! She cleared her throat once more and whispered

“Is someone bullying you?, you can tell me baby” I stared back with a literal WTF look as to who would dare bully moi an amazing person as me

“Answer the question mom... no one bully’s me”

“Oh okay... urh but where does this question comes from, did someone ask you to do that with them” she questioned again

“I wished they did” I whispered back “WHAt??!!” She snapped her hear towards me again and I answered nothing and motioned that I will look it up.

By dinner time I think I’ve become an expert on boy x boy and you do not want to know the rest.

Dinner was silent on my mother’s side with her in deep thoughts my sister on the phone screeching away with her friends and me humming a song I don’t know the lyrics to.

We all bid each other goodnight and got into our respective caves.
